  1. Very sad read-a-thon so far, only like 20 pages read :S
  2. It would be so cool! Have you seen any books in the car? I wonder if the owner is a reader... Maybe put a post-it on a window and tell them about the forum Reading is definitely a very 'moody' thing, one needs to be ready for a certain book to be able to appreciate it to the fullest. But I've now stopped reserving books from the library, should be getting a few earlier reservations in but I'm finally leaning towards that good old TBR and my bookcase... Did your kids think you were cuckoo to get so excited about a bookcase? Have they not learned that this is how you roll? Good to hear he's happy! I think it's admirable that he knows what he wants and is able to make such an educated decision at such a young age. I was never that sure myself in his age. You can be proud! I'm sorry I've missed this, I've only just read the post What's wrong with poor Obi? I'm glad he's feeling more comfortable though. I'm sure he'll be getting plenty of TLC at your place! I hope Jojo's already made a full recovery. Seemed like her happy old self when you told me about her ball plays in the October thread Sounds very suspicious... They were only covering for their lazy arses!! Haha, you're really cunning, to make your kid go to the door to ring the doorbell and get the dogs booming Note to self: gravel driveway is a good, good thing... I've never thought of that! Ah, so that's the filling appointment you were talking about? Glad it's fixed now! I hope you don't need any filling in your tongue
  3. I went back to see where I left off previously with reading your log and it seems I've missed a few things earlier!! Great haul! I love it that you're getting Kurkov novels The picture of Jasper with the book stack was so cute Have they gotten back to you on the subject? Wohoo for a Rory book! Do you know, I was organizing my bookcase yesterday and the day before and I started thinking that I've completely lost sight of which were Rory books and which were 1001 books. I had to go and check the lists! I thought I'd learned them by heart by now but that doesn't seem to be the case I can't remember where they were... But the book, I can't believe you don't remember! It's the one that got your Mom reading!! It was a book on her favorite radio show. I'm going to have to get the dictionary and find out the word I'm looking for... Ah, the term is a 'radio play', as simple as that Did you save it for her Birthday, I can't remember. Awww, I'm glad the Lemony Snicket books found a new respecting and loving home! Funny thing, I coincidentally read this thing on the author... I'm behind by 15 books I'll race you! Wohoo!!!! You've certainly made this certainly Finnish person happy!!! I hope you enjoy the novel!! And now I can't buy it for you as a present... Crap Have to come up with something else.... Oh and please remind me about The Phantom Tollbooth soonish, okay? Now that I've settled, I really want to get to it. I have a few necessary library reads but after that. I've stopped reserving books from the library (kept the ones valid that I'd reserved before the move, though), so I should get back to my TBR soon enough!
  4. I have sad news: my first night on the loft bed turned sour. No, I didn't fall, but a book I'd been reading in bed did. It took a nasty hit, and spent the rest of the night all cold on the floor, abandoned. Thank goodness it was a hardcover. Sorry, Herman Koch.

    Dexter

Season 3, episode called Turning Biminese:
  6. Parents called and I got totally distracted and there was dinner and stuff. Will need to get back to you tomorrow! Mwaaaaaah
  7. Hehe, I was just about to go over your posts and respond to them, and noticed that you're here In your thread! Imagine that
  8. Ouch! I hope you didn't bite yourself I hate going to the dentist, so even if my mouth/tongue's numb afterwards, I find it funny and oddly enjoyable, because it's something out of the ordinary, and it means that it's over! The dentist trip is behind me! Awwww! Happy girl, she is
  9. That is very true, and quite relieving! I guess it's just that my books were in a certain order for a year, and the bookcase fit them perfectly and I had the books in perfect order... It was more tricky this time, the shelves being different sizes. But it's good that it's not cramped, it'll be easier to change things around. I can understand that, wanting to know where your TBR books are and seeing how much there's left, but personally I couldn't separate a certain author's books, especially if it was a series, based on which books I've already read and which I still have to read. That would feel so weird and messy I tried going up to the loft bed, had major second thoughts about it... If I have a hard time going up there to put the sheets on the bed, what are the chances I'll feel comfortable sleeping up there But the longer I procrastinate instead of just doing it, the less time I have to dedicate to the read-a-thon...
  10. But you have two separate bookcases so you're bound to have to divide the books in some way! I'm only operating with one bookcase... Don't read what Jänet wrote above and how I responded to her message, please. I've just finished organizing my bookcase, so I'm now passing on my patience to you I hope you'll have fun. I was seriously lacking the energy myself. But it's now done! It might need some fine-tuning a bit later, though. And there are empty spaces I might have to start using the case for knick knacks, too! Oh yeah and do post pictures! Maybe even before and after -shots? Yeah, it's bound to happen at some point I've been sleeping on a spare mattress on the floor this time, and tonight I might take the plunge and sleep in the loft bed and store the mattress somewhere. It'll be nice when I don't have to start the morning by shoving the mattress on top of the couch to make room on the floor What's the thing with you and miniature chairs? Just out of curiosity

  12. Oooh! Kylie told me about this show only recently and I want to watch it. Any good?
  13. Ah, I didn't know it started out as a solo project of his I don't think I would've been so adamant about the thing last night had I known that Yep, a poll would be interesting. And it would also be interesting to ask people which project/band of his they like the best. He's done so many different things. I don't think the man is about success, though. I've gotten the feeling that he does what he feels like doing at any given moment. If he starts to want to do band stuff, he'll go for it. He'll be able to write the songs as always, but he might miss being with that band at some point. I think with him, it's never a sure thing what happens next
  14. I would if I had any extra cash lying around... Moving is expensive! I'd hate for my books to be away from me, and in a garage as well Poor books, all alone in the cold and dark
  15. I started reading Dear Mr. M by Herman Koch last night. Liking it so far!
  16. We as in PT fans who want to see PT play live! As simple as that Although I prefer Anathema....
  17. Hello and welcome to the forum! I've recently moved, too, and it made a dent to my To Be Read -pile You're totally welcome to start your own 2015 reading log, the more the merrier!
  18. Good to have company, woolf woolf! I wanted to start today, already, but then I started organizing my bookcase. Big mistake
  19. Started to arrange the books in the bookcase, and now there are books everywhere and it's messy and it's 8 PM and I'm tired and want to take a shower and go to sleep I'm finding this difficult! Also, the lighting in this apartment is not book friendly... The owner's opted for atmospheric lighting and not eye-seeing-friendly lighting It would be great if I had a BF and needed some atmosphere, but I only have my books
  20. I know he's behind the music, but it's selfish! We want the whole band!! And we wanted it advertised!! Well now you know and will see him soon enough again
  21. That's what I meant! Stupid language mistake! Oh wow, that's so random that he'd play totally different sets No wonder you would've wanted to go to both shows. Bloody hell! It's not fair that he plays PT stuff, because he's not writing any more songs for that band and hasn't been touring in ages. So lay off the PT!! Or at least advertise it...
  22. #60. The Readers of Broken Wheel Recommend by Katarina Bivald From the book cover: Sara is 28 and has never been outside Sweden - except in the (many) books she reads. When her elderly penfriend Amy invites her to come and visit her in Broken Wheel, Iowa, Sara decides it's time. But when she arrives, there's a twist waiting for her - Amy has died. Finding herself utterly alone in a dead woman's house in the middle of nowhere was not the holiday Sara had in mind. But Sara discovers that she is not exactly alone. For here in this town so broken it's almost beyond repair are all the people she's come to know through Amy's letters: poor George, fierce Grace, buttoned-up Caroline and Amy's guarded nephew Tom. Sara quickly realises that Broken Wheel is in desperate need of some adventure, a dose of self-help and perhaps a little romance, too. In short, this is a town in need of a bookshop. Thoughts: Penfriendship and books? I'll read it I started this quite a long time ago, I've been reading the book for two weeks. It's because of all the hassle with moving to a new flat etc. Had I been able to read this in a few days, I might've felt more strongly about it. Now I feel like I opened a bottle of carbonated soda, and it was good for a while, but then as the bottle was open for too long, all the bubbles have gone and it's flat and there's only a hint of the taste you had to begin with. I did enjoy the novel, but I thought it was somewhat predictable. I got what was promised in the synopsis but not much more. When one's already read a few hundred books in one's lifetime, one is expecting there to be more to the story than just what it says on the book cover... I fear this might be one of those easily forgettable novels for me. 3/5
  23. ^ Wishing for many happy returns? I read in the other thread that the gig was pretty awesome! I had a dream last night that Pearl Jam was coming to Finland but I didn't have the money for the tickets
  24. Haven't read that one myself yet, but I have it reserved from the library. Looking forward to hearing how you liked your first Barclay
