  1. Yep! I'm not very happy with my real apartment at the moment...
  2. Great reviews, bobblybear! Glad you enjoyed it I remember us talking about it and getting the book at around the same time. Unfortunately I couldn't get into it: it wasn't the right time and I wasn't in the right mood. But now I'm more convinced I need to read this at some point Ove was great, wasn't he? I'm the same: I really loved Rosie but wasn't all that keen on Elizabeth. I'd heartily recommend Ove This is the only Picoult I've read so far, but I got the sense that she's a master of these ambiguous situations and different viewpoints.
  3. I had a wonderful dream last night: I was renting this really big apartment, and for only 50e/month When I was checking out the apartment, I found out that it was actually attached to the local library: I could just walk downstairs and make a left and boom! I was inside the library! I was soooo thrilled
  4. Nope, no Penrith yet But hey, the book was written and published before I visited
  5. Haha, thanks for that transcript, because I couldn't make out what he said in that, meaning the 'oaf' part I loved how John said 'Woof.' So has this clip enticed you to reading the book sooner than you'd thought? MwHAHHAAHHAHAH
  6. Me too!! Edit: Oh and Parramatta was also mentioned And Sydney and Canberra of course, but those are a bit obvious locations
  7. Okay, will do! Well, they butted heads when they were young but I think that was to the normal extent. And I think John Elder was a rather elusive brother, sticking to his own company... Goes with his personality. I do think they get along these days. There's a clip on Youtube about Augusten videoing his brother on a tractor or something and talking about Look Me in the Eye Edit: Here's the clip Edit: "So what that means is that he likes machines, he's real smart and he's sorta rude'. Sorry, don't mean to offend anyone with Asperger's, I just like how Augusten worded the whole thing. I think it was a bit humoristic on his side.
  8. 720?? Oh yeah... Does it fly by though? Pages just turning by themselves, as if the book was a well-oiled machine? 720... I'm doing well with my current book, I'm onto 314 pages. Kylie, Katoomba was mentioned (The book is What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty)
  9. Oh wow, that sounds great! And I really like the cover Thanks for keeping me updated my darling Edit: Have you picked up his first book to read? I've been thinking about reading it... I'd like to place a reservation but my mojo is so fickle these days. I'm enjoying my current read but who knows what mojo is up to after that...

Hello and welcome to the forum!
  11. It's a long one? I thought it might be short I guess because a little life -> a little book... Hoping to do some reading this weekend! 4 glorious days of holi!
  12. Hello and welcome to the forum
  13. Thanks Noll Looks like we posted simultaneously! I experienced a big 'doh!' moment when I realized what I needed to do
  14. GR has changed a bit again, with its icons and their arrangement and what goes under where. I'm a bit confused by it but I don't mind. However, I need to check if a GR friend has a certain book on their shelf (in any shelf, TBR or read etc.), but I can't seem to find anywhere to click for all of their books! I was able to do it quite easily before the change, but I don't remember where the icon was... Where has it gone now, or has it vanished? What fresh hell is this? Edit: Scratch that! I saw X's favourites shelf and there was the link saying 'More...' which I clicked, and then I found all the shelves, and the 'all' shelf which I was looking for. Phew!!
  15. Has anyone seen Peaky Blinders? I caught like the last two minutes of some episode and was impressed. I thought it might be really good...?
  16. Just watched episode 22 of the seventh season of The Office. I've seen it before, so I wasn't looking forward to it... It's so sad. It's really funny, but it gets really sad in the end. I knew what to expect but I still wept like a little girl Oh well, the hard part's over and I can move on to the rest of the show!
  17. How about Jeffery Deaver's Lincoln Rhyme series ☺
  18. You need to be quick on your feet then! I do understand though, sometimes I'm the same with hugely hyped books. I'm enjoying it so far I'm not sure if it'll be as good as the other two books I've read by Moriarty but those were pretty awesome. Surely this will be great, too!
  19. There are far too many to recall I'm not one to hold on to a book if I don't find it satisfactory!
  20. I haven't read it but it's on my wishlist. Oh boy But I'm glad you're enjoying it nonetheless!! Really happy to hear you liked it especially since you're not a thrilled thriller reader these days. I thought this was on par with the widely popular The Girl on the Train. I've managed to get to page 120 of What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty! I might actually finish a book this month
  21. Hello and welcome to the forum!
  22. Yay, another reader who's read and loved The Eyre Affair by the magnificent Jasper Fforde!
  23. Hello and welcome to the forum, I hope you like it here!
  24. Thanks for the sympathy! It really sucks ass I'm allergic to dogs in general, and have never been able to spend any longer periods of time with them without getting symptoms, but these two were the only ones that never gave me any trouble before and these are the dogs I've been doggysitting in the past. One's a Chihuahua and the other one's a Jack Russell Terrier. I've been fine with them before! I think it's the fact that it's spring and allergy time, and I had not taken any allergy pills because I was in the middle of having my meds re-newed and so had none on me at the time. In addition, it's been really dusty outside what with the snow melting and the roads/streets being full of gravel, because they've not been able to clean the streets yet, because of low temperatures at night. The air in Helsinki is just worse than in Joensuu. With all that and the dogs, it was too much for me. The dogs don't shed much at all but my lungs weren't having any of it I've always been careful to wash my hands after giving them food and after petting them and before I've done any cooking/eating and stuff. But it was of no use this time. Edit: I was staying with the dogs at their home from Monday till Friday morning, so I was in full contact with them and their surroundings. Had it just been me walking a dog, I would've been fine. It's just something that probably can't be helped It's something I have to come to terms with
  25. I was rather proud when I read this And all the five Nordic countries are in the top five!
