On the other hand, we don't speak to any of my OH's family, its a very long story but I believe we're better off. The saying goes, you can pick your friends but not your family, I don't believe that. I think you have to work at a relationship no matter who the other person is, boyfriend, husband, sibling, friends. Just because someone is a blood relation doesn't give them carte blanche to treat me like **** and get away with it. If I believe I'm better off cutting ties then so be it and unfortunately the relationship between OH's relatives and my family was bad for us. It was my OH's wish and I agreed. Simple as that!
