  1. I'm also an anytime reader, but like so many others work takes up so much time i sometimes feel cheated when I don't get enough time to read. My friends used kill me cos I always bring at least one book with me when we go away and I keep it in my pocket or rugsack and while they shop I sit anywhere(floors, steps, chairs etc...)and catch up with my mind saving hobby...they've all gotten used to me now and just laugh at me, but they don't know what they're missing!!!!
  2. Hi welcome hope you enjoy the forum...

  3. Cool name...any holidays are good to me, I think everyone needs a break!

  4. Its almost impossible to limit it to 3 with the selectionof classics to choose from...I haven't read one in a while but recently I went through a phase of watching classic movies and it awakened the urge to start reading them again...realistically it will be after the summer before I get to start. So going on memory my top 3 would have to be Jane Eyre(always no one), Sense and Sensibility and Persuasion:tease: I know it's childish but I love adding these funny little guys:friends3:
  5. Hi Isidro, i don't know you yet so not aware of where youve been but welcome back...interesting name is there a meaning for it? would it be rude to ask where youve been, just interested if youve been on hols or something and if so would love to hear about it...

  6. Hi Ann, welcome to the forum, hope you have some fun chatting to others about your favourite reads...I'm quite new to this and only learning how to do things!!!!I can't even find the little pictures/icons to send you a smiley face boo hoo!

  7. 5 facts about me... 1) I'm one of 12 children (10th) 2) There are 72-73 in my immediate family(a real rent a crowd) 3) I love my job, but loving more the fact that I'm part-time at the moment (just taking a break!!!) 4) I love my partner T to bits (my best friend and soulmate) 5) I wish I was better at computer things, there's so much I'd love to be able to do!!!
  8. Hey Radjack...great discipline 20 pages a day:lol: Sometimes when I'm coming to the end of a page turner I do similar(but with a 1-2 page limit)to make it last longer...I have got into the habit of having several books on the go at one time and that helps with that, Some of my reader friends say that's criminal as I should be devoting all my attention to the one book and giving it the respect it deserves but I just see it like watching different programmmes on TV...well that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it:ob_cool:
  9. The one good thing about being a reader is that on wet days you always have something to do...Here in Ireland we are having the most miserable weather...it seems like constant rain although I'm sure there's sun shining at times...I also find it a useful hobby when I'm out shopping with my friends...some of which really do shop til they drop. As I get fed up with the whold fashion thing quite quickly I always find it handy to keep a book in my bag, thst way I can find myself a little corner and glide away into my bookworld until they are ready to move on. Roll on the holidays!!!!!
  10. Hi Blossom, it's almost unthinkable that someone would be totally bookless...luckily I've never been in that situation. It's a pity we don't live close by or you could have some from me, I'm sure there's one or two you'd fing suitable cos I've such a varied taste...Hope you've managed to find some form of print to keep you going!!!
  11. Wow Elizabeth...you really have researched your stuff...I haven't yet had the pleasure of reading your material, I'm not a great history fan but to be honest I'd read anything (except voilent murders). Which of your books would you recommend for someone like me who hasn't yet dabbled?
  12. Judy hope you got to read Boy In the Striped Pyjamas...I enjoyed that book so much...the content is very sad but the perspective from which the story is told is excellent...if you haven't got to it yet I hope you do soon...it really made me open my eyes!!!
  13. Hi Amanda, Ive never been part of a book club but like you I'd love to set one up but don't know where to start. My friend was part of a club last year with college/work friends and they had a really cool idea. They met for dinner each month at a new restaurant to discuss their books...so as well as getting to discuss their latest read they also got to try out new and exciting places for food!!!!Let us know how you get on. 14. This is my first thread and it's quite exciting to have a space to talk about books, so sorry for starting with a moan... It's not often that I will pull a bookmarker out of a book, but my current book is heading in that direction. "Whitethorn Woods by Maeve Binchy". I normally love her stuff but for some reason this one is just not holding my attention. Concept good but somewhat disjointed I feel. I will perservere for the moment although with only 100 pages or so left I'm not expecting to be knocked off my seat by it. Has anyone else read this and what do you think?
