  1. Janet,

I've voted that you post it back, because in my view it is best to be honest rather than lying about it and if you haven't read it after two years, are you really likely to? But, like most people, I don't like to hurt someone's feelings so try to be tactful about it.

I don't see the problem with just giving it a try though, it certainly won't hurt you but you also have to think about what you want and just go for it. Do you tend to put things off a lot? It's better just to bite the bullet and take an action - any action!

  2. Does anyone watch The Hills on MTV?

I started watching the series and thought 'oh, so this is the way they are filming American soaps/series these days - reality style. It's quite fresh and new'

And even though it's not the kind of thing I would normally watch, I ended up watching two episodes and was hooked.

And now I've found out that the characters in it are actually real life people - Lauren Conrad IS Lauren Conrad - and that it's actually reality tv! They expect me to believe that everything that happens in the programme is 100% happening.

My opinion now is that it's just another example of American television creating circumstances and passing it off as reality.

Some of it has to be real, but what do you think about this?

  3. Hello there *hugs back*

Why do you wish you were thick? That's a bit of an unusual thing to wish... when I was younger I read a book called 'The Fish That Could Wish' and at the end he wished he couldn't wish anything and then he became like any normal fish. I didn't like that ending, I think the fish should have treasured his ability to make wishes come true.

  4. Brother Odd - the third in the Odd Thomas series by Dean Koontz.

Sadly, I wish I had the chance to read more books but what with work, publicity and writing my own, it's difficult to get the time. Didn't stop me visiting my old friend Solid Snake on the PS3 this weekend though ;)

Yes, I've wasted the whole weekend playing computer games and I'm proud of it... sort of.

  5. My favourite horror book has to be 'The Season of Passage' by Christopher Pike. The plot, the scenes, the characters... it had just the right tones and although I read it for the first time when I was very young 12 or 13 I think - and I know, I shouldn't have been reading it - I still loved it.

I've reread it for the first time very recently, it took a while to get hold of but I can say it's still a brilliant book.

I might write a proper review after I've read some of the others on here.

  6. She's a great author... what do you think about people referring to women authors as authoresses? Someone did that to me the other day, is it the same as actresses being offended if they're not called actors? Do you think it's sexist?

  7. Oh, thank you. I didn't see it at first, then I went to read what to do when you're a new member and realised I posted in the wrong place.

This looks like quite a big forum, thanks for welcoming me.

  8. Hello there,

My name is Bronwen and I thought I'd join this forum because although I love writing, I don't have many friends that are writers.

It'd be nice to meet some people who are similar to me and have perhaps gone through the publishing business before.

I hope I can stay around and get to know some of you.
