  1. Glad you are enjoying it, Chrissy I found it very engaging from the first few chapters. I'm trying to get ahold of the second one now.
  2. Just finished The Dead Room by Chris Mooney. Now about to re-read Shadowfever by Karen Marie Moning.
  3. I felt that was a bit petty. With that type of contest you expect to have to fight for your place, there is no need to bring it up after the fact.
  4. I saw Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1 last weekend. I liked it, I can't wait for the next one in July! The Time Traveller's Wife is another film I watched this week. It was the first time seeing it, I loved it and cried my eyes out. I'm such a sap
  5. I read Dissolution for the first time a few months back, thoroughly enjoyed it Being a history geek and a lover of mysteries, it has everything I want from a novel. I don't know why I haven't read the rest yet. So many books and so little time, I guess!
  6. I've tried reading that so many times, I even have it on cd and can't listen to it all the way through.
  7. I finished Devil Bones by Kathy Reichs. Wasn't that impressed. I never really am with her books, but sometimes I think I'll give them another go. Read about half of The Woman in Black. I get a very gothic, wintery feeling from this book. Perfect for a dark afternoon after just putting up the Christmas tree Shall continue with that this afternoon, then onto Mistletoe Mysteries, a collection of stories edited by Charlotte Macleod.
  8. wants a snow day. Not gonna happen. Work, work, work!

  9. Completely agree! What keeps making me mad too is Gavin constantly repeating "I think I did alright." NO, you didn't!
  10. I read 40 pages of the Once Upon a Holiday anthology, and I just started Devil Bones by Kathy Reichs. Hoping to make a trip the library this weekend. Squee!

  12. I won't I'm still going to ask for a Kindle, I think. I'm a reviewer so I tend to get all of my e-books free. I think I've only ever purchased one for my Sony reader.
  13. Completely... I went to the Dr. Who stag show in Brum just over a month ago. I actually quiet enjoyed it. Looking forward to the new series next year, although I hear they are splitting it in two.
  14. Completely agree My only problem is I find James Jordan terribly obnoxious after a while and he starts to grate on my nerves! I'm really starting to dislike Ann, she doesn't even seem to try; she just stomps around...it's annoying. Looking forward to tomorrow's show already.
  15. I really like Kara too. Their American Smooth on Saturday was lovely I have a very odd sinking feeling that Ann is going to win
  16. I have a leather Henry VIII and his six wives which I brought from the Tower early in the summer.
  17. I finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows last night, and sobbed like a child. I'm such a sap. Read 30 pages of Waking the Witch by Kelley Armstrong on the way to work. Am waiting for a book delivery from the library and expecting The Road by Cormac McCarthy.
  18. I enjoyed Witch and Wizard because it bordered on the adult side of YA. My local library had shelved it in the adult section! The two main characters are 18 and 16 (I think) but very mature. It's well written and the language used is more adult. I'm always very wary of YA books, I try to avoid the ones bordering on the children side. I would highly recommend it.
  19. Has anyone read the first book in this new series by James Patterson? Witch and Wizard - book one You are holding an urgent and vital narrative that reveals the forbidden truth about our perilous times.... This is the astonishing testimonial of Wisty and Whit Allgood, a sister and brother who were torn from their family in the middle of the night, slammed into prison, and accused of being a witch and a wizard. Thousands of young people have been kidnapped; some have been accused; many others remain missing. Their fate is unknown, and the worst is feared—for the ruling regime will stop at nothing to suppress life and liberty, music and books, art and magic...and the pursuit of being a normal teenager. Witch and Wizard: The Gift - book two When Whit & Wisty were imprisoned by the wicked forces of the totalitarian regime known as the New Order, they were barely able to escape with their lives. Now part of a hidden community of teens like themselves, Whit and Wisty have established themselves as leaders of the Resistance, willing to sacrifice anything to save kids kidnapped and brutally imprisoned by the New Order. But the One has other plans in store for them: He needs Wisty, for she is "The One Who Has the Gift." While trying to figure out what that means, Whit and Wisty's suspenseful adventures through Overworld and Shadowland lead to a jaw-dropping climax and conclusion: the highly-anticipated fulfillment of the heart-pounding opening prologue of book one... The Execution of the Allgoods. The second book isn't out until December 13th, but I can highly recommend the first one!
  20. I agree, I don't think you can compare them. If I had to choose...Anne Rice all the way. Lestat is one of my favourite literary characters.
  21. I haven't been to a bookshop or the library for ages, work has been manic. Must make time this weekend. Still reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, only have another 200 pages to go. Did finish an ARC of The Raising by Laura Kasischke. Beautifully written, poignant and full of suspense. It's not released until next year, but I would look out for it if you like mysteries with a twist.
  22. *throws you a life jacket* There you go I did look at my shelves last night and I have a lot of books by the same authors. So I tend to buy books by authors I know and borrow books based on synopsis and title.
