  1. For me, Resurrection Men was the best one.
  2. What amazed me was that my local Waterstones ran out of copies at 9.30am! Was it hard to predict it might be kinda popular?
  3. I've just finished The Confessions of Nat Turner by William Styron (author of Sophie's Choice). A deeply disturbing book about the first slave uprising in America. Nat led the uprising which resulted in the slaughter of every white person in a 20 mile radius. The book focuses on Nat's life up to the uprising and the barbaric treatment of slaves.
  4. I listened to an unabridged version of this rather than read it & really enjoyed it.. as much for the history as anything. My wife's reading it at the moment.
  5. At the risk of being flamed, I find the series all a bit lacking in any substance. They are easy reads & all that, but for me any way, that's about it.
  6. I hate turned down pages. I normally just have a piece of paper as I'm forever losing bookmarks.
  7. Thayt's tricky one, and subject to regular change: David Mitchell Cloud Atlas John Irving Owen Meaney Harry Thompson This Thing of Darkness John Updike Rabbit, Run Ian Rankin Resurrection Men If I answered tomorrow it would be a different five I'm sure.
