Yeah that makes sense. In a way I can't wait to finish it to find out who survives and who dies, but at the same time I know that once I get to the end I will never again read any new Harry Potter adventures. Which is actually kind of sad.

I got the children's cover so all my copies match although the first four are paperback while the others are hardback. I've read up to chapter 11 and I'm loving it so far.

I just recently read this book myself. I loved it but I have to say that I did prefer My Best Friends Girl.

I remember when book 5 (I think) came out and the name of the person who died in it was written on banners and things that people then hung over the edge of bridges across motorways and things. There will always be people who want to spoil it for others and sometimes it can unavoidable.

One of my work colleagues is planning on getting the book on its release but keeping it for her holiday - in September. I don't see how she's going to stay spoiler free all that time though. She's bound to hear people talking about it.

When the hype first started I wasn't all that bothered about reading them and the first four books in the series were out before I picked one up. And that was only because a friend of my mum leant me them - if I hadn't have borrowed them from her who knows when or even if I would have read them. (Although I have a sneaky suspicion I probably would have done at some point or other.) Anyway once I'd read the four I'd borrowed I bought a box set of them and reread them and since then have always gotten the new ones on the day of release.

I've not seen any of the HP films in the cinema, I always wait and get them when they come out on DVD. The books are another matter though, I can't wait for next Saturday - I'm so excited! LOL

The publicity machine has certainly helped hype them up, but I for one love them. Whether I'm reading them for the first time or the sixth time I am still totally bowled over by JK Rowling's imagination and when I'm reading them I actually find myself believing that Hogwarts could actually exist. But yeah I do think the publicity surrounding the books and films each time they are released has definitely helped with their success. I mean the first book or two weren't all that successful when they were first published, were they, so something must have happened to trigger off this whole HP phenomenon - I just can't remember what it was. Still as a booklover who is always reading, I think any publicity that HP gets is definitely a good thing. It's certainly helped get kids reading again.
