I've had a very slow reading month, but I've finally gotten into Ben Aaronovitch's Moon Over Soho. I've read about 100 pages today, on top of a lot yesterday, and I plan to finish it today.

Ignoring the joke part of your comment, The Book Depository, who publication date I first quoted, is based in the UK, as is Orion Publishing. I also confirmed it with Amazon UK before writing my post. So there. I'm happy to be proven wrong with the release date, and maybe it will indeed be made available before then, but I'm just going by what I can find online, not by what you wrote on 20 April and the first thing that Google shows (I saw the same thing, but scrolled past it for more info ).

Just because you said so, it doesn't make it true! I think you need to tell the various online booksellers, because they are definitely listing August. And Orion Publishing itself has the hardback release date as 25 August.

The Book Depository has the release date as 17 July. I just checked my spreadsheet, where I note down the dates of upcoming publications, and I originally had it listed as 14 June, so it has definitely been put back. A local Australian site has it as 2 August.

I didn't get around to answering the last question, but I'd said I'm most like Rebecca from the novel of the same name. I could identify with her lack of self-confidence and uncertainty in social situations, among other things. 'Summer reads' makes me think of books that are light reading and shortish, such as Agatha Christie and YA books. I'd generally veer away from anything that's non-fiction, although some autobiographies would fit the bill, I think.

I've watched the latest episodes of The Big Bang Theory and The 100, and now I'm catching up on the past few episodes of Supernatural. I like it when they go back to 'monster of the week' episodes.

I've just found out about yet another social media platform for book nerds. This one is called Litsy, and it's only available as an app for the iPhone (although I suppose Android will follow eventually). It's been described as a cross between Goodreads and Instagram. I don't need another one of these sites/programs to distract me from actually reading...but I can't resist! I'm on there as KylieL, if anyone else joins. I've literally only just joined, so I don't know too much about it yet, but it looks kinda cool. I'm off to play...

Bryan Cranston (yay!) is going to produce and star in a 10-episode series that explores the worlds of Philip K Dick. Could be interesting!! Info here.

Thanks Athena. We had our first two performances yesterday and they went really, really well. The first show was close to sold out and the second one was completely sold out. We only have a few seats left for the remaining 8 shows. I think it's going to completely sell out! Today is Mothers Day here, so Mum and I went to the city to spend the day shopping. I bought a few pieces of clothing and then we went to our favourite bookshop. Mum had some vouchers to spend, so she bought about 10 books I think, and I bought two (I could have bought dozens, but I'm broke and tend not to buy many full-priced books from Aussie bookstores, as they're really expensive!) But I wanted to treat myself, so I bought: Robert Galbraith Cormoran Strike #3: Career of Evil (the checkout girl was super excited when she saw I was buying this, as she had just finished the first one in the series and loved it ) Terry Pratchett & Stephen Baxter The Long Earth #2: The Long War We also went to one of Adriano Zumbo's patisseries and stocked up on delicious cakes and Zumbarons. Yum! I'm trying not to devour them all at once.

I re-watched Hitchcock's The Trouble with Harry this afternoon.

I sincerely hope it does turn around for you! I disliked it so much that I swore off DH Lawrence for life...until a couple of years ago, when I found that he had written a book set in Australia. I've decided to give him one more chance, but it'll probably be a while before I get to it!

What a coincidence! I started the second book, Moon Over Soho, last night. Dull dull dull. I don't remember it improving much, I'm afraid.

I finally got to watch Deadpool last night. Excellent movie. Lots of great jokes, and I loved the 4th wall nod to Ferris Bueller at the end. I also watched about half of The Grand Budapest Hotel before falling asleep (not the movie's fault—I've seen it before and loved it). So I'll have to finish that one today.

Hi Julie! Long time no see. I hope you're well. Today I bought Graeme Simsion's The Rosie Effect. I haven't really done any reading since finishing my Bill Bryson book (which was excellent). I had a really big job last week. In between working I was attending rehearsals (including a full-day dress rehearsal last Saturday) for The Sound of Music. We have one more rehearsal tomorrow and then open on Saturday (yikes!) We'll be doing two shows each Saturday for 5 weeks. It's come along really well and is going to be a fantastic show. We've had a few friends in to watch it and the reviews have been positive. My job backstage is kind of difficult. We have a few big props that take up at least half of the space in the wings (which is a very small space to begin with), leaving very little room to move for the cast and crew (and there are dozens of cast members!) I also never seem to have the same backstage crew twice, and whenever someone new arrives to help out, it adds another layer of stress because I have to watch/teach them instead of just focusing on my job. It's challenging but also fun.

I haven't had much time for reading lately. But today I went and bought my mum a couple of books (it's Mothers Day on Sunday here), and I decided to treat myself to one as well, so I finally bought The Rosie Effect by Graeme Samson.

Yep, another phenomenal episode of GoT tonight.

I watched a 1956 movie called The Bad Seed. I was inspired to watch it by a reference made on Gilmore Girls. I'd like to read the book one day as well.

Me too! I've actually visited England before (including Bath), but that was several years before I joined BCF, so I didn't know about all of you lovely people. To think now how close I was to you! I may have even passed you in the street! Ooh, cool! I used to do mosaics. Would love to get back into it but never seem to find the time. Fingers crossed that you find something great in the bookshop. I received a few lovely books in the mail yesterday (by Boris Akunin) and read yet more of The Road to Little Dribbling.

I've received a few books in the mail this week. I also loved The Thirteenth Tale, and I recently bought Bellman & Black. I hope it's as good as TTT! I've read another 150 pages of The Road to Little Dribbling in the past few days. It's a bit slow going because I have to keep stopping so I can Google the places Bryson visits. Sometimes he describes a particular view or place so nicely that I just have to see it for myself (and I can't afford to fly over, so Google will have to do). Ooh, I really enjoyed Darkly Dreaming Dexter and Go Set a Watchman, so I'll be keen to read your thoughts on them. I've had Revolutionary Road on my TBR pile for years. Maybe if you enjoy it, it will inspire me to bump it up the pile (no pressure though! ) Look forward to your review on this!

Good to hear. It's been a favourite of mine for a few years. Way too underrated!
