Hello and welcome ladymacbeth

Which one do you take?
I think the common name for it is Maxalt.

Have you been specifically told not to combine? I often end up taking any combination of brufen, paracetamol and/or aspirin, then taking a triptan when they don't work!
Yes I was told not to take the triptan within 6 hours of any other painkillers, but it's getting to the point where I might just ignore that and try taking one if the others haven't worked. Ended up in bed at 9 last night with another bad head, I can't class it as migraine because I wasn't sick and no light sensitivity but it was bad. All I can put it down to is the weather, I didn't have any 'trigger' foods and don't feel stressed which are the 2 main causes.

Touch wood I've not had a bad migraine for weeks, since I got the triptans! I carry them around but so far not had to take one. I have had loads of severe headaches (3 or 4 a week), not quite a migraine where I've had to go and lie down for a few hours. To me these are worse because I take painkillers and then when they don't work I can't take a triptan because of the painkillers I've already taken. The weather plays a key role in the headaches I get, the sun just doesn't agree with me, that and the reflections boucing of cars and windows etc.

What have been your favourites so far this year?
No favourites as such, I've enjoyed reading all 9 of them Paula, just wish it could have been more but the mojo deserted me

I finshed The Violet Hour this evening, dead chuffed with myself as it only took 6 days
another enjoyable read from Mr Montanari, I thought I had it sussed 3/4 way through but was proved wrong to a certain degree! The story moved along at a good pace and kept me wanting to read more and more.
Next up is The Lighted Rooms by Richard Mason
Eloise McAllister's life is perfectly under control. Successful, assertive and resolutely private, she prides herself on playing for high stakes. But she goes too far when she gambles her company's fortunes on a tip from an old lover.
She is taking her 80 year old mother Joan to South Africa - a long promised trip to offset the unspoken guilt that crackles between them. For Joan cannot live alone for ever and Eloise knows she does not have the patience to care for her.
Joan's mind has been playing extraordinary tricks on her for some time. In the dust and heat of Africa, long-interred family stories begin to stir and become startlingly real. Soon a sinister figure from her past - someone she thought she had vanquished long ago - threatens to overwhelm her...

My first job was working Saturdays on a pot stall on Preston outdoor market (chuffin freezing in winter!) then when the Co-op opened up I got a Saturday job there on the cake section, I loved putting the fresh cream in the cakes
when I finished school I was taken on full time and then moved sections every few months until I'd learnt them all, I was then farmed out to the little Co-ops to cover holidays and sick leave etc. I loved it especially my co workers we used to have such a laugh.
After that, and when Kat was a little older I got a job as a doctors receptionist (and no I wasn't a dragon lol!) followed by 6 years as a bar maid, sorry person, another job I loved. I left there when we moved to Blackpool to help MIL run a hotel, that was hard work and long hours but the regulars who used to stay made it worth while. I now work as a civil servant, the job sucks but the people I work with are great.
In all my jobs I've been very lucky in that I've enjoyed them and also had brilliant colleagues.

The air in the closet was damp and oppresive, fat with female smells, smells that seemed to invade his skin, silently, deftly mingling with his own sharp odors, his own cloying musk of fear and excitement.

Can't believe it's been nearly two months since I started Play Dead, my mojo has certainly abandoned me big style. Play Dead was still a good read, I just wished I could have finished it weeks ago. Off to search Mt TBR for inspiration ....
After careful consideration, well closed my eyes and pick one, I'm going to read The Violet Hour again by Richard Montanari.
Johnny Angel is found brutally murdered with a dead prostitute in his bed and a needle full of heroin in his arm. It's all the more shocking because he's a priest. But when Dr Bennett Marc Crane, a prestigious plastic surgeon, is the next victim of a vicious attack of the same manner, it becomes clear that there is a seriel killer on the loose.
And as this homicideal maniac exacts his vengeance upon more innocent victims, evidence of another long-buried crime is uncovered. One that starts with a Halloween celebration at an exclusive college party twenty years ago and ends with a murderous plan for delayed revenge.
For Nicky Stella, a hungry journalist, this is just the sort of sordid story that could land him a cover article. But when he digs a bit too deep, the killer's attention turns towards Nicky and he must find the killer before he becomes the next victim...
Lets hope it doesn't take me as long to read this!!!!

Been reading more than you could have imagined? Or has your mojo deserted you?
My mojo has completely deserted me I'm still in single figures in the books read this year stakes. Way below average, I feel guilty about it but can't seem to kick start the reading habit.
Found any new favourites? Been disappointed by others?
Not really found new ones just new books by favourite authors, I've no read enough to have been disappointed apart from with myself
Been sticking to your reading challenges? Or pushed them to the side in the name of being spontaneous?
The only challenge I have is to read more than last year and so far I'm way off mark and unless a miracle happens I won't be reaching it
Bought more books than you've read? (Please tell me I'm not alone in this!)
My reading mojo might have left me but that hasn't dampened my book buying
I've bought at least 4 times more books than I've read!
Been spending too much time at BCF when you could otherwise be making inroads into your TBR pile? And if so, are you going to do anything about it? (Let me guess...'Yes' and 'No', right?)
I've always said if it wasn't for BCF and facebook I would probably read more but I doubt I will do anything about it
And finally, where do you hope your reading will take you in the next 6 months?
Hopefully back up to speed and hit my target of 52 by the end of the year
but even if I manage to read a few more I'll be happy

My mojo has really fallen out with me, I've not read anything for weeks now apart from work related stuff. I did manage to read about 50 pages this morning but I would prefer that to be at least 100 pages a day.
