  1. Which team is that, inver?

Try getting WSC , When Saturday comes, to do an article, it`ll lead to help with a temp ground somewhere.

    Cheers now.

He plays for an amateur team 'Glendale FC' here in Aberdeen.

They played their first game today since mid November, but beaten 3-0. They are asking for lots of away games apparently until they can sort out something with a council pitch.

We ended up at a footie game today, down in Fife visiting relatives but we managed to go see Raith Rovers v Airdrie and hoorah they won 2-0!

  2. Andy doing some Aberdeen FC community coaching today and tomorrow at the Sports Village. Not sure if there is any money involved but he had the 5-7 age group. This is what he put up on facebook that one of the wee kids asked the goalie of Aberdeen Jamie Langfield.

'Highlight of today was definitely Jamie Langfield and Cammy Smith coming in for a question and answer session. One of the youngest kids pops up with this absolute belter for Langfield 'why did you let a goal in through your legs yesterday?' Had the coaches in stitches.

    to which he replied

'ehhhhhhhhhhhhh........i am just lucky i have good team mates to bail me out just as i bail them out sometimes as well.'

  3. Happy reading in 2013 Diane!

'Me Before You' ~ JoJo Moyes (book from my 2012 Santa list)

'The Midwife's Confession ~ Diane Chamberlain

These were two of my favourite reads from last year, My Mum recommended Diane Chamberlain to me and I was pleasantly surprised, I thought she would be a bit Jodi Piccoult but I felt the writing was a lot more accomplished and have since read The Good Father and added two more to my TBR shelf..

That is good to know. I really must read these on the TBR pile before others. I was a bit naughty last year and looked them out, put them on the list and then when it came to read them, looked for something else.... :giggle: so easy to do.

  4. Disaster strikes......Andy & Glendale's home pitch was badly flooded a few weeks back and Graeme (hubby) went to have a look yesterday. The wee bridge that is the access to pitch and changing room area is damaged and closed off...looks like they won't be playing there any time soon. Probably have to find an alternative home pitch somewhere to full fill fixtures etc.

  9. My Reading List 2013 :readingtwo:

My wish, again, for this year is to increase the number of books read. I am sure I could have read more last year, but I did actually manage to add a few more than previous years, so I am heading in the right direction. I aimed for a total of 30 last year but didn't quite make it. I do hope to do that this year and any more than that would be a bonus.

  10. 'Last Christmas' by Julia Williams

I usually try to find a book with 'Christmas' in the title in December to read for the run up to Christmas itself. I had this one lying in wait from last year.

Set in a village community and a lovely wee jumble of characters it set the mood for my read. Although I did find the jumping back and forward from Last Christmas a bit annoying at times. I liked the main character Marianne and hoped all would turn out for the best as she treads carefully with her friendship with Gabriel and his son Stephen. Cat and her blog, living in an ideal perfect world, but underneath her family and life throws more than her fair share of complications, and she knows nothing of the possible redundancy her husband is facing.I know from experience how she felt too when here mother turns ill and decisions have to be made for her care. Noel wonders if there is a way he can help avoid the building of a new Eco village, but he has his work cut out.

The fight to save the community Post Office sums up how close nit they are in the village and when bad weather damages the village hall they all help out people in need.

The village and characters all hope for a Christmas miracle and are unaware there is one in their lives already, helping things along the way.

This book ticked the box for an easy Christmas read.

  11. 'House of Silence' by Linda Gillard

Well what can I say, but ... I knew I would love it having read and loved Linda's other books. I waited patiently for this one to become available via printing my Amazon and was engrossed right away. I loved all the characters and the idea of the big house having secrets that unfold throughout was page turning. Gwen meets Alfie and is whisked away to Creake Hall to spend Christmas with him, but Alfie seems different when he goes back to the family home, but he only visits once a year, at Christmas....why? She meets his sisters and his mother, an author, but hardly ever leaves her room, and hasn't done so in years, due to a breakdown, but what caused it? Gwen begins to have her suspisions that Alfie is not who he says he is, the plot thickens. Tyler the gardener, befriends her and eventually she confides in him when she finds letters in amongst some unfinished patchwork quilting.

The plot unfolds page by page with a few unexpected twists I wasn't expecting. I loved it. It was nice to see references to quilting again with a mystery to tell. With a jumble of wonderful characters, I liked Hattie and the relationship she had with Gwen for their love of sewing and quilting, which in time unearths the mystery.

Thanks Linda for writing yet another page turner.

  12. Yeh...great result for Bradford...well done. Watched Arbroath take on Celtic in a Scottish Cup replay tonight, but unfortunately went out 0-1. Now we have our home time team Raith Rovers v Celtic at home.....come on Rovers....you put Aberdeen oot the cup a few years back, let us see another upset.

  13. Hoorah....6-1 ...great stuff Sedge. Shame if a team of their size has to fold! Hopefully not happen. Still :cold: up here, so Andy isn't holding out much hope of footie this weekend again....if pitches aren't frozen they will be well soggy.

  14. Snow, snow, snow.... :cold: Guess what there probably won't be any of this weekend.... :grinhat:

Also well done Celtic on your win tonight and getting throught to the final 16....good stuff.
