  1. Ya'll noticed? We joke about liking both kinds of music, Country AND Western...actually, I like a little bit of everything...mom and dad watched every musical program they could find on the tv when I was a kid, so I grew up with Arthur Godfrey, Mitch Miller, Porter Waggoner, the Wilburn Brothers, Lawrence Welk, Hee Haw, and American Bandstand. My taste is a a little eclectic... Still the One-Orleans
  2. Finished The Coroner's Lunch by Colin Cottrill. 3/5 Moving onto Burn by Nevada Barr this evening.
  3. Definately...I'm thinking now of the late Robert Jordan...I gave up on the Wheel of Time series after the first 5 books. I just couldn't keep track of it all. One monster book would have been sufficient.
  4. I'm much more likely to do more research these days too. Some series are worth sinking the time and energy into trying to read them in order. Others deserve to be abandoned in mid series. Life is short and there's more books in the Literary Sea. That said, I have some favorite series I like to recommend to anyone who'll listen
  5. Leftover meatloaf, buttered bread, washed down with water.
  6. I like series that don't have to be read in order. One of my favorites is the Ballad series by Sharyn McCrumb. I read two or three of them before I read the first title in the series, and I'm so glad I did it that way. The first title is If Ever I Return, Pretty Peggy-0 and I think it's the weakest book in the series. McCrumb was just getting warmed up with that one. Subsequent titles are much better.
  7. My only book journal is my list of books read for the year. That includes the date finished and a 1-5 rating. I use notecards for bookmarks sometimes, particularly for books I think I'll find a good quote or unfamiliar words. My books read list is kept in a 3-ring binder full of lists of potential reads..that list is always incomplete.
  8. When I was in the sixth grade, the girl who sat behind me handed me Mists of Dawn by Chad Oliver. I think this was about the time one of our teachers read A Wrinkle in Time to us, and from that time on, I was hooked. This same girl became my best friend all through public school and was my maid of honor. It all started with one book...
