I hate to say it, but hell has officially frozen over. Do you know how I know? I live in it, aka MN, where the temp is currently -5 below F (-20 below C)
Muggle, watch out because I might be moving to NC sooner than I think!
Good news is that we baked 2 giant pans of baklava today and the house smelled great. I'll post a photo in my thread
. Tomorrow I'll be baking ginger snaps, all in preparation for Christmas packages to be sent to my siblings on the west coast plus a few close friends.
Ginger snaps are a favorite of mine.
Darn pecefield, that is pretty cold. Are you getting any of the stuff that is white and falls.
btw, I checked out the Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc and it is a pretty highly rated wine. It has a rating of 90 which is very, very, good. See. you have good taste.

They always tend to involve food though Muggle Not - it's little wonder that I am as 'cuddly' as I am!
The second main ingredient is laughter - and the big laugh of today was my 7 year old great-nephew being told he had one last chance to behave. He asked his Dad in all seriousness whether he could use just 'half a chance' and 'save the other half for later in case he needed it'!
That is really funny. He sounds like me in my childhood. Only I needed a dozen chances.

My goodness Frankie, that is a definite KABOOM!
We had a lovely day today. We travelled up first thing to Birmingham to visit niece, nephew-in-law and great nephews for a Christmas lunch, as it looks as if we will be unable to join them on the day itself. Lunch was astonishingly good and I ate far too much of it. We then relaxed for a few hours chatting and playing quizzes with each other. A really great day. We left just before 7 pm and had a clear run home.
I feel full and happy - and was even sent home with some leftovers!
Chrissy - you have such wonderful trips. Love reading about them.

My mom and I went on a trip across the US (52 days, 36 states) and I actually had the exciting pleasure of visiting Roslyn, Washington, where Northern Exposure was filmed. It was exactly the set- Ruth Ann's Store (now sells souvenirs- believe me, I totally bought the store
), the Radio Station and the Brick- which we couldn't go in and have a beer because we had my 6 mo old. I mean, come on people lol. It as really neat. OH! And the mural on Rosie's Café is right at the end of the street!
Northern Exposure is my fav TV Show (Well, a tie with M*A*S*H).
Well, you are now the envy of many of us Northern Exposure fans. It is such a shame that the show didn't last longer than it did. I could have watched it forever. When Joel left the show the audience slowly decreased.
Yes, Mash was another great show.

I agree- I liked it too. I LOVE how the set looked like real theater. I watched 1/2 of it and thought everyone was really good- sometimes when Carrie acted innocent, I don't think she pulled that off- not like Julie Andrews. But all in all, I totally want more live REAL tv... not "reality" tv
Agree, live TV of shows like this are really nice to watch. Mistakes are made but that is part of the attraction to a live production of a 3 hour program.
We should remember though that Carrie is a singer, not a professional actor.
Another point is the show was a stage production, not a finely tuned movie.

He was a great man.
Yes, Rest in peace.
I "echo" your post as well as most that have been posted.

A live telecast of The Sound of Music was on TV last night and starred Carrie Underwood. I thoroughly enjoyed the production. It was the first time a 3 hour live telecast of a production of this magnitude occurred in many a year. Kudos to Carrie Underwood for taking on such a monumental task. It was nice to see a live Musical on TV again. There were many other stars in the show that I recognized their faces but I am not much for names.
I would like to see more shows like this.

On Wednesday we are driving to Charlottesville, VA (approx. 210+ mi each way) for a bi-yearly appointment with our dentist. We plan on stopping at an orchard, yes they still have some apples for sale, on the way. We will also do a little Christmas shopping in Charlottesville.
On the way home we plan a little detour and drive over the Blue Ridge Mountains and down into the Shenandoah Valley to a small town named Stuart Draft. There is a Greenhouse and Nursery there that grows and sells Poinsettias this time of year. The Poinsettias are really nice and we will buy 3 or 4 for our house. They have 39 varieties this year and come in about 4 different sizes (and costs).
click here to browse the different varieties:
