from what i remember The Ladykiller is a stand alone book so it shouldn't matter. hth
-
I'm considering it finished because I can't physically get to the end at the minute, it's just too sad.
-
I'm about a quarter way through Wicked now and I'm quite enjoying it. It wasn't anything like I was expecting but it is a really great story idea and it's easy reading at the moment.

The Basics: Full Name - Katrina Bower Age - 30+ Location - Preston, Lancashire Marital Status/Children - Living with fiance and cats Date You Joined The Book Club Forum – April 2006 Favourites: -Favourite bands/singers? Green Day, Travis, Foo Fighters, Metallica -Favourite movies? Any classic Disney and films you can sing too -Favourite books? The Magicians Trilogy, Eragon, My Sisters Keeper, Rebecca -Favourite authors? Jodi Picoult, Lesley Pearse, Martina Cole, Trudi Canavan, Christopher Paolini (to name a few) The Book Club Forum’s Rise and Future... -Why did you join The Book Club Forum? I was looking for some reading inspiration and like minded people to talk books with. I did a quick search and then lost a number of hours browsing the library section. Needless to say I got my inspiration and haven't been able to reduce my TBR pile since. -How did you become a member of the Mod Squad? I was honoured to be asked by Michelle as I was around 'a lot' during the day when others were unavailable and I accepted. -What is the most gratifying part of being staff at The Book Club Forum? What makes you happiest about the site? The best part is when new members appear and get a taste of the friendliness of our forum. It makes me smile when people are happy to be a part of our community and to see it grow with great success. -What is your favourite section of the Book Club Forum and why? I love the Reading Lists and Blogs section because I'm nosey. I love to know what people are reading/have read/want to read and their general thoughts on books. And it's all in the one place A little more about Kat: -We all know you love reading, but what kind of books do you most enjoy and why? I don't have a favourite genre anymore, I have found myself enjoying books I wouldn't have looked twice at, thanks to the lovely people on here. I do enjoy my crime books still, thanks to Martina Cole. I love her gritty, criminal underworld stories and leading characters who you shouldn't love but do. -Which book do you most often recommend to others and why? Currently it's Eragon ~ Christopher Paolini as I think it's a fantasticly written book, even more so because he was only 15 at the time. I do recommend any Jodi Picoult, Martina Cole and Lesley Pearse though, each for their own individual style and gripping stories. -What other interests do you have and what drew you to them? When I'm not reading I love to do cross-stiching and occasionally knitting. I'm just waiting for the day when I have enough hands to do them both at once -Tell us three unusual and interesting things about yourself… 1 - I've met The Incredible Hulk 2 - I'm a big tomboy, I love football, motorbikes, rock music and hate wearing dresses but I do have a passion for pink things. 3 - I am a bit geeky

I've also had a quick look at his web page and there are a few more on there I wouldn't mind getting my mits on

Now I'm going to start one of my birthday pressies Gregory Maguire ~ Wicked When Dorothy triumphed over the Wicked Witch of the West in L. Frank Baum's classic tale, we heard only her side of the story. But what about her arch-nemesis, the mysterious Witch? Where did she come from? How did she become so wicked? And what is the true nature of evil? Gregory Maguire creates a fantasy world so rich and vivid that we will never look at Oz the same way again. Wicked is about a land where animals talk and strive to be treated like first-class citizens, Munchkinlanders seek the comfort of middle-class stability, and the Tin Man becomes a victim of domestic violence. And then there is the little green-skinned girl named Elphaba, who will grow up to become the infamous Wicked Witch of the West, a smart, prickly, and misunderstood creature who challenges all our preconceived notions about the nature of good and evil.

I'm going to have to call this one finished for now as I can't get through the last bit for the tears. I don't want to read any further at the minute as I know what's coming. Still absolutley loved this book though, a great way to start the year

There are some very similar remarks about Jasper in this book mum, you would enjoy it. I've already had my tissue warning from a kind lady at work though.....

I just love dogs like that, it was more the adorable picture on the cover that caught my attention than the actual book. But that looks just as good now I picked it up

I finally finished The Vampire's Seduction today and I am mightily impressed. I really enjoyed this book, it has just the right amount of everything in it to be enjoyable. I can't wait for the next installment now Next I am going to read my latest aquirement from Waterstone's John Grogan ~ Marley and Me John and Jenny were just beginning their life together. They were young and in love, with a perfect little house and not a care in the world. Then they bought home Marley, a wiggly yellow fur ball of a puppy. Life would never be the same. Marley quickly grew into a barrelling, ninety-seven pound steamroller of a Labrador retriever, a dog like no other. He crashed through screen doors, gouged through drywall, flung drool on guests, stole women's undergarments, and ate nearly everything he could get his mouth around, including couches and fine jewellery. Obedience school did no good -- Marley was expelled. Neither did the tranquilisers the veterinarian prescribed for him with the admonishment, 'Don't hesitate to use these.' And yet Marley's heart was pure. Just as he joyfully refused any limits on his behaviour, his love and loyalty were boundless, too. Marley shared the couple's joy at their first pregnancy, and their heartbreak over the miscarriage. He was there when babies finally arrived and when the screams of a seventeen-year-old stabbing victim pierced the night. Unconditional love, they would learn, comes in many forms. The heartwarming and unforgettable story of a family in the making and the wondrously neurotic dog who taught them what really matters in life. For lovers of "Tuesdays with Morrie", The "Year of Magical Thinking", and even, of course, dogs!

I have to agree with Polka Dot Rock there with most of those recommendations, brilliant books
-
my first impressions on the cover weren't great either, then I told myself off about judging books and all that I did see a nicer copy in Borders the other day, it seems like they realised it wasn't so great and made a nicer one.
-
now that's just rude, and rude girls don't get birthday presents
-
I may have to look into these books by KW I'm hearing great things and I hate missing out on anything.
-
It certainly has me gripped already

You'll be very glad to know Michelle that so far I am really enjoying this one, it's quite different from anything else I have read so far with regards to vamp stories. I'm liking the main characters already and am really getting a feel for the personalities coming through.

I wouldn't call mine a blog, it's more of a list with notes but for a couple of reasons it's quite helpful to me. Firstly and mainly it's because some days I have trouble remembering my name!! I like to be able to see what I've read over the past and especially how much I rated them. If I really liked a book then I can remember the authors name and find more. Secondly, I like to share my good reads with other people. Especially if I really got something from a book. It's also great to snoop one what everyone is reading and has read. I'm quite nosey that way

Currently enjoying a glass of Montalis Rose, very refreshing and a lovely taste too it. Might just enjoy a couple more

Ok, I'm halfway through the work I'm supposed to have done over xmas and I haven't read anything for days to catch up. As a reward I am going to make a start on one of my xmas pressies Raven Hart ~ The Vampire's Seduction When it comes to a wild and seductive nightlife, Savannah has bite. Older than the United States and wealthy beyond his years, playboy William Cuyler Thorne is a vampire with a nice long undead life
