  1. I typically stick to the authors I know and love. Every once in a while I'll pick up something new that's on a discount rack, but other than that I don't tend to stray from the authors I like. Every once in a while someone can convince me to try someone new. That's how I got hooked on Diana Gabaldon. I got hooked on Stephenie Laurens because the cover caught my eye and I was looking for a really good historical romance author at the time. I got hooked and slowly managed to get all but one or two of her books. My mom turned me on to V.C. Andrews and even if I don't like the book I still end up with them and I will read it from cover to cover just because of reading everything that has ever been written under her name. Now I did pick up a book recently based on the cover and the inside flap sounding really good. I picked up Hades' Daughter by Sara Douglass. Not sure if it'll be any good but I'm hoping, but of course I also have to find time to read it and as I seem to be reading slower and slower lately it'll be a while. Grr...
  2. I finally got to get started on the newest one. I'm loving it so far. I still have yet to read the Lord John book, it's on my to read list. I was too far into rereading the series when I got it, so I'm trying to finish out the series. It looks like she's going to go to interesting places with this newest one.
  3. I found this forum because of Michelle joining another forum I am a part of. She had a link to it in her signature. I just wish I could find a bit more time to join in around here. My darling daughter demands a lot of attention though, but the joys of parenthood are worth not much free time. She'll be 4 months old this Saturday. Can't believe how fast the last four months have gone by. Glad to hear your forum has made into google's top results Michelle. That's awesome.
  4. I so agree with that comment. My sister-in-law would be happy as can be if my nephew didn't eat pizza and cakes and stuff, heck she's lucky if she can get him to eat anything that is good for him.

THE SOUND AND THE FURY by William Faulkner 13. 1984 by George Orwell 64. THE CATCHER IN THE RYE by J.D. Salinger 74. A FAREWELL TO ARMS by Ernest Hemingway 88. THE CALL OF THE WILD by Jack London I would go through and mark the ones I want to read but I don't really want to read to many so... Love to say some of my favorites are in here but they're not really... I have my own personal preference and most people don't tend to agree with me.
  6. The Ones I've read off of BBC 5. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, JK Rowling 6. To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee 10. Jane Eyre, Charlotte Bront
  7. That's how I got hooked. Someone asked what kind of books I liked and told me to look up Outlander. I read about it online, found an awesome deal on Ebay and got the whole series for cheap. Including one in hardback for like less $30 with shipping. Been hooked since the first 40 pages of Outlander.
  8. At this point in time she has written the following books Outlander (also released as Cross Stitch) Dragonfly in Amber Voyager Drums of Autumn The Outlandish Companion The Fiery Cross Lord John and the Private Matter A Breath of Snow and Ashes All of these books are part of the Outlander series except for Lord John and the Private Matter. It is actually a spin off of one of the characters from the Outlander series. This series is utterly amazing. It's an amazing tale of time travel embedded with romance and a whole lot of historical detail. Claire Randall falls through time to 1761, right in the middle of Scotland. Right before the Jacobite Rising. Diana weaves you into the story so well, you feel like you're right in the middle of it. She tells you what Claire does to survive, how she adapts to her surrondings despite how different it is. There's romance, war, family values, everything in these novels. She went so far to make it to where all of her facts were right. The historical detail is unreal. It almost makes it feel like an interesting history book. There is no doubt at how much work she put into these novels. Of course because of the work they are also rather long. Outlander is 800+ pages and the later ones are upwards of 1100+ pages. She was so detailed in her work that she ended up with a lot of information. And to give us readers who are so hooked on her work more of a fix she released The Outlandish Companion which is actually a book dedicated to even more historical detail to let us know where she pulled her facts from. Anyone that loves historical romance, or just a good novel will love this series. You must also be able to tolerate the longer novels. In fact, Diana has even said that she wrote Lord John and the Private Matter just to see if she could write a shorter book. Feel free to ask any questions. I don't know anything about her newest book but I will soon. I'm almost to the point of starting on it. At least look it up online and read in better detail what it's about.

I've actually read all of the Outlander series except the most recent. And because of how good it was I decided I had to reread the series before I read the newest one to make sure I hadn't missed something.
  10. These are the books I've bought and am slowly trying to get to. A Breathe of Snow and Ashes by Diana Gabaldon A Fine Passion by Stephanie Laurens April Shadows by V.C. Andrews The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis Hades' Daughter by Sara Douglas I believe those are all my current buys and on my to read list. I'm in the middle of The Fiery Cross by Diana Gabaldon, the fifth book in her Outlander series. I've been working on it for a while, cause I was determined to reread her entire series before I start on the sixth one A Breath of Snow and Ashes.
  11. I just got the box set as a gift since I showed interest in reading them. I never read them growing up and have always heard wonderful things about it so I'm looking forward to the read, whenever I manage to find the time to pick them up.
  12. I for one do not think Dumbledore is dead. I just don't see how they could kill Dumbledore off when there is still so much more to be done before Harry can succeed in killing Lord Voldemort. I guess we'll all have to wait and see. I also don't think Snape is a bad guy. He had every chance in the word to do more evil than he did, and kill more than he supposively did, yet he didn't. He only stunned and prevented things from happening. He saved Harry, though he said that was for Lord Voldemort, but he still could have killed Professor Flitwick and many others that night. We've probably got another 2 years or so to wait and find out but until then we can always speculate.
