Three of my cross stitch bookmark designs got featured on a big crafts blog and newsletter (Craft Gossip) today.

I gave up on V after about 4 or 5 episodes. I wanted to like it - I really did, coz I loved the original - but this just seemed really flat and dull and lifeless - like it needed the TV equivalent of Pantene or something...

OMGs! I am TOTALLY jealous!

Currently watching The History Of Horror, presented by Mark Gatiss on BBC4. Part 1 of 3 (the other 2 are coming the following 2 Mondays nights at 9pm).

I thought I had read your review of it singing its praises, Weave!

Little Big Man by Thomas Berger is supposed to be brilliant. I've not read it myself, but I've heard great things from others and fully intend to read it at some point in the not too distant future, as I loved the film when I saw it years ago.

My Mam has one of the Sony e-Readers and only uses it when she's at work or on holiday - saves her carting half her library around with her - LOL! At home she still prefers to read an actual book.
I like the look of the revamped Kindle- it looks more like the Sony now, instead of the plastic brick they originally produced.

Some bizarre combinations can really work though. For example, one hungover morning when I was starving, I had some bacon and eggs as well as some toast with strawberry jam. I dropped the toast, jam-down, on the bacon. I was determined I wasn't wasting good bacon, so I ate it anyway, and would you believe it? Bacon tastes GOOD with just a tiny dab of strawberry jam on it! Colour me surprised! It also tastes good with peanutbutter - that one was a purposeful experiment shortly after the strawberry jam incident. A peanutbutter bacon sarnie is amazing! (Gotta use the crunchy wholegrain stuff though - much better that way!). A local deli/sarnie shop actually sells crispy bacon and crunchy peanut butter sarnies (made with french sticks baked fresh each morning on the premesis) and they are very much loved.

Chicken nugget curry? OMGs, that must have been totally gross!
I once added barley to my Northumbrian broth. One spoonful of the resulting gag-inducing soup and I realised why most people don't use barley in Northumbrian broth - it's because barley is disgusting! I threw out the rest of the packet and have never used it in anything ever again. Yuck!

Tara IS in the books, but she's pretty much a bit-part character and doesn't show up for a while. A few characters from the books have been fleshed out for the show.

My favourite Koontz remains Lightning - it's fantastic.
-
Ooh, I've not seen Luther. SOunds pretty good though, so I might have to go back and watch it now...
-
Becky is actually my favourite character so far because she's so hell-bent on flouting social conventions.
-
That's sad. A lot of those shows played such a huge part in my childhood, from watching the shows to re-enacting them in the playground.

I lov that the author keeps stepping out of the story to comment on the events as they unfold, speaking directly to the reader - it makes me feel like I'm almost in cahoots with him and able to make comments in return - LOL!

I'm reading this at the moment (and will probably still be reading it come the end of the month as it's rather thick!) but I'm' enjoying it immensely!
I love Becky Sharp - yes, she's rather manipulative, but she's a fun character. And I kind of like Jos too, vain and silly as he is.
Amelia I find rather insipid and George I cannot take to, but Dobbin is such a good, solid, faithful fellow, one cannot help but like him.

If you like that one, you might also enjoy The Magic Cottage by the same author...

That's just what I was going to suggest. The copy I had was like the one you described and it certainly sounds like the storyline you mentioned.

Can you please see the rules regarding homework/dissertaion/project help requests. Thank you.

I was a little disappointed at how disjointed season 3 seemed - it jumped all over the place.
And there wasn't enough naked Eric.
And quite a few things happened that don't happen till later in the book series, which may have serious repursuccions for how the TV series runs.
Am now seriously worried about the possibility of the book 4 plot making it into season 4, which is a shame, because that should feature plenty of naked Eric!

I think we can safely close this thread now as the original poster was obviously trying to get a reaction.

I squeeze it all in when Xan is sleeping - LOL!

I'd love a Cricut, but I could never justify the expense.

I'm about a third of the way through now and enjoying it immensely. I have to say that Dobbin is really growing on me - such a sweet and thoughtful man with passions that run deep, but very quietly. I really feel for him! I'm also still loving the impish Becky - she's such fun!
