I started reading Life of Pi by Yann Martel this afternoon & although I'm only about 50 pages in so far, I think I'm really going to enjoy it. I love Martel's style already & the concept is intriguing! Has anyone else read this book?

I'm glad you enjoyed TCIotDitNT - I adored it. It was definitely on my of my favourites of last year.

Finished reading Wolf Girl last night & it was excellent. Moving on to Jerome's Quest & Life of Pi this week...

I was just thinking, it's just as well I decided to dot around my list instead of reading them in the order I get them, as I'd never get to them all - LOL! I'm heavily into historical fiction at the moment, so I'm leaning more towards those on my list that are from that genre over the others.. No doubt I'l swing through to another genre soon enough & I'll get round to them all eventually!

Well, my Easter book shopping trip didn't exactly go as planned. I was originally going to get The Constant Princess by Philippa Gregory, but it's still only avilable in hardback & at

I might be reviewing another book for another author (unpublished as yet) to loko over. Apparently she's been reading my reviews at On the Shelf... we'll see if she sends it & go from there...

You just register (it's free) & put up a list of books you have available for swapping. THen you can look through the library for anything you fancy & request swaps from people. They'll then be sent the link to your list & if they choose one of yours, you just post yours off 2nd class & theirs will arrive shortly too. Of course, they can always refise if you don't have any books they want. And vice versa. I've managed to get quite a few books from there for the price of 2nd class postage.

The year is 1348 and the Black Death is sweeping across England. The children escape, together with the dogs Glaive and Gabion, and go on the run through a plague-stricken countryside, at one point facing death by drowning from a crazed mob whipped up by Brother Rohan. Even when they think they have found sanctuary in a monastery, it has been taken over by a lawless band of armed robbers, led by the beautiful but evil Chanterell. She has plans to use the dog boy to terrorise the local manors. By now Brind is convinced that he is a plague bringer. Aurelie knows this isn't true, but then she succumbs to the plague herself...
The fear and superstition of 14th century England makes for a scary and exciting adventure as Brind and Aurelie make their way across a country filled with terrified people who believe that witches are responsible for the deadly plague. It

Actually, I've just been over to read it, Swap it & requested swaps for them - Im' a cheeky madame!

Just been over to RISI again & put in for swaps in order to try & get the 3 Trudi Canavan books (Novice, Magician's Guild & High Lord) & also Blackberry Wine by Joane Harris. We'll see if any of them get accepted... knowing my luck I'll get either the 2nd or 3rd Canavan but not the 1st - LOL!
-
That settles it - I'm going to have to get hold of them. I've been over at Amazon, gazing wistfully at them again - LOL!
-
Me too, Emma - I think Snape might surprise everyone yet. Along with Sirius Black, he's my favourite character - there's just so much to him & he's very dark & complex. I like that in a man. Well, in a man in a book anyway - LOL!
-
I really rather fancy the Trudi Canavan ones - I've been eyeing them up for some time now & I'm thinking of asking for the 1st one for Easter off Dale... What did you think of them, Kat?
-
I love the Harry Potter books & I adore Roald Dahl too. My favourite has always been The Twits - it makes me laugh soooooo hard (it's the Mugglewump family & the hug-tite sticky glue that does it!).
-
Well, i finished Plague Sorcedrer today too, so tomorrow I'll be writing 4 reviews (I've fallen behind again!).
I'll be reading Wolf Girl by Theresa Tomlinson & Jerome's Quest by Debora Hill next...
-
I can't help wondering what would have happened if Ron had been given the book instead of Harry though - that might have been interesting...
-
I adore Shakespeare - Twelfth Night is one of my favourites. I've never erad Goodnight Mr Tom, but they did a very good TV series of it with that guy who played Inspector Morse (is it John Thaw or something?). I really enjoyed that, but for once I wasn't inspired to go on to the book for some reason...
-
I've never read them myself, but I did watch the TV series of it when it was on a few years back (actually, I think it was about 6 or 7 years back, so longer than I was originally thinking!). The story seemed quite complicated & involved, but it was very interesting all the same.

I loved Half Blood Prince & can hardly wait for the 7th book to come out! i've read lots of theories regarding whether or not Dumbledor is actually dead & I have to admit, I'm not sure myself. I think he is, but then sometimes I think he maybe had a plan...

Always good to see another book blog - it's great being able to see at a glance what everyone is reading or what they have on their shelves. It's certainly given me a few new ideas of what to look for & I've discovered some fantastic authors through lokonig at blogs on here.
