You will not go wrong with this author - I have read 4 of hers and I start the 5th tonight.
My Sisters Keeper will leave you gripped to your seat - it is a great book, leaving you with many emotions.
What genre is it?
-
'My Sisters Keeper' as well.
This has been popping up quite a lot.
-
Still have Lord of the Flies.
-
Gosh, Macbeth was very popular.

What better way is there to spend a sunday morning?
Except for lazing in bed with a good book of course
None!

Well, the first few pages of Cloud Atlas didn't grab me. I'll give The Tooth Fairy a try tonight, and see if that fairs better. (I often make choices this way!)
I don't think I have ever done that....if they are both new, and I start with one, I think I would continue with it first.

I certainly do not agree with everything the author says in his book about men and women... he has every base covered, as he goes on to explain how women may identify with male characteristics and vice versa.
Some theories seem too far fetched to me, but some others are interesting.

I just remembered two more we had at school, " The nun's priest tale", and Silas Marner. Anyone had/read them?
-
I used to keep them all.....now I have to share my space, I cannot do so anymore.
(Apart from the fact that they were getting out of hand!)

We have a saying over here - and roughly translated it goes something like this.
"Children - when little, they give you headaches, when older they give you heartaches"
I used to wonder why ....now I have an idea.

, and on opening day the lift got stuck too
Gosh..someone must have gotten grief over that!

I'm so protective of my kids, there is just so much danger around that it makes childhood a more confined time.
One thing I am dreading, is my son being a teenager. I will not be able to keep him safe, and I know that he would think I am meddling and being over-protective, but he would be still a baby.

The Wise Woman was a great book too
That I read, and still have. Should put it on my to sell/swap list!

I'm impressed Jo! congrats!

It was supposed to be released earlier but has been put back till April 06.
Why do we say put back when we really mean put forwards?

I used to stick to tried and tested authors, BUT since joining here I have tried new ones.
Ones which I would have never dreamed of trying before.

Can't wait for May - it's too long to have to wait for Broken!
You'll be mended again by then!!

A Sci - Fi novel - which I never tried before. The plot is all about "a man" who is heir to a huge fortune, and who lives in a world where death is not always fatal (
), in fact he is always being assassinated, but manages to 're-grow' various parts of his body
over and over again. I believe his original colour was black, but he ended up mostly green (the re-growths), and sun tan makes some parts a different shade of green. He also has a robot servant, a robot horse, a planet as a godfather, and a security chief who even runs checks on himself, amongst other such characters. All of these characters can communicate - even the water - and obviously not always by speech.
I had a huge problem trying to figure out all the characters, races, robots and planets . I also did not get much of the descriptions and puns, but appreciate the author's imaginative capabilities for the ones I did get.
All in all a very different book to what I normally read.

I enjoyed it. It was an easy to read book, written with a sense of humor. I believe I did post some comments about it under reviews.
-
Have started Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus. The first couple of pages are certainly intriguing. I think I will enjoy this book.

I started off the year with the second half of Terry Pratchett's The Dark Side of the Sun.
I found this to be a difficult book to read, I had never read any Sci-Fi novels before. (In fact I dragged on and on with it and the book is all of 159 pages). I think I missed more illusions than double what I got, but some of the ones I got were quite entertaining. All the characters and races and robots, apart from the planets, were confusing to me, but the author really has a vivid imagination.

Ok..have read the reviews on Amazon. I think I would like this book. I read about this subject, which is highly controvesial, in a couple of non-fiction books. Can see why it is being so popular - highly controvesial subject, with no clear cut 100 % right or wrong issues.
