  1. Can anyone recommend a YA romance novel with paranormal or supernatural elements? Something like "The Ghost of Buxton Manor" by Jonathan L Ferrara (about a ghost boy trapped in his childhood home that falls in love with a human boy that moves in) or "Teeth" by Hannah Moskowitz (About a boy that travels to an island with his family to cure his sick brother, but ends up meeting a damaged 'fish boy') or even something like The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater (which I cannot describe sufficiently in a sentence and for that I apologise.) It doesn't have to be all romance- it can just have romance in it. I just love books with supernatural characters, things like Ghosts, Merpeople, Vampires/Demons (not Twilight) and others. Any recommendations?
  2. I've been working on a list of books to buy this year! Can't wait to read them all~ Teeth by Hannah Moskowitz (finally getting my hands on an actual copy- just think of the nice smelling pages!) The Weirdness by Jeremy Bushnell The Perks of being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky (I know, I know. Shame on me for not reading it sooner!) Beautiful Music for Ugly Children by Kirstin Cronn-Mills Some Assembly Required by Arin Andrews Everything Leads to You by Nina LaCour How to Lead a Life of Crime by Kirsten Miller those are a few so far...
  3. Currently reading 'The Age of Miracles' by Karen Thompson Walker It's quite slow, honestly... But I'm also getting through 'Welcome to Night Vale: The Novel' which is charming to say the least, and a much easier read.
  4. It's honestly becoming increasingly hard to find great books about spiders, at least for myself, and that's a surprise. Spiders are interesting, and I wish I could find an in-detail documentation on different types of spider, with high quality photos and facts. Is anyone else having this issue... or has anyone else found something like this? (oddly specific, I know, but I really love those little eight legged fluffs)
  5. Wondering who everyone's favourite book protagonists are! I adore Crowley and Aziraphale from Good Omens, as well as Shuya Nanahara from Battle Royale and Todd from The Knife of Never Letting Go! how about you?
  6. Teeth was an amazing read, dark and heavy, yet charming and full of character. It's author, Hannah Moskowitz, is no doubt a wonderful writer with a lot of skill but due to the topics of her other books I just couldn't enjoy them that much... Teeth was interesting because it had some fantasy elements, a 'fish-boy', a dark backstory and good dialogue. I especially enjoyed the dialogue between Teeth and Rudy, and I'm not going to lie, I found myself wanting them to be together romantically, in a way. Turns out I'm not the only one, as on goodreads it has often been shelved as 'LGBT'. For those who aren't familiar with this novel, I'll give you the blurb. "Be careful what you believe in. Rudy’s life is flipped upside-down when his family moves to a remote island in a last attempt to save his sick younger brother. With nothing to do but worry, Rudy sinks deeper and deeper into loneliness and lies awake at night listening to the screams of the ocean beneath his family’s rickety house. Then he meets Diana, who makes him wonder what he even knows about love, and Teeth, who makes him question what he knows about anything. Rudy can’t remember the last time he felt so connected to someone, but being friends with Teeth is more than a little bit complicated. He soon learns that Teeth has terrible secrets. Violent secrets. Secrets that will force Rudy to choose between his own happiness and his brother’s life." Are there any other books you can think of with similar themes, or that fans of this book might enjoy? (this question is mainly targeted at people who have read the book, but I'm open to other suggestions of course!)
