  1. Right now, I am reading two books. One for class and another for the absolute joy of reading. I have taken a calculus class and i am reading this introductory Calculus: Early Transcendentals because frankly i found the use of transcendentals so funny. But, fortunately, the book turned out to be a great comprehensive read. For my leisure and soul, I am reading Zadie Smith's Swing Time and it is really captivating. I am hoping i can finish the calculus textbook soon and read couple more of Smith's works. She has me hooooked!
  2. "The boy with fair hair lowered himself down the last few feet of rock and began to pick his way towards the lagoon." It is the fourth time that i am reading this book and the symbolism in William Golding's Lord of the Flies gets me every time. Sometimes i feel like business majors and politicians should be forcefully made to read this as it is a great study of human nature and especially the various shifts that go through in the boys group(s). If one were to pay close attention, the resonances are unmistakable with our times and even i would go as far to say our lives.
  3. i really like this thread. Adding some from here to my to-read list.
  4. Wow thank you for this website recommendation. It is a really useful one. I often look for books by artists who i have just read. Especially poets. Like, couple of nights ago i was looking for poets similar to Li-Young Lee and then i used Literature Map and now have a list of beautiful poets.
  5. Considering how book is always considered better than the film, I really want to read 'The Martian' now!
  6. Try Issac Asimov's books. He is pretty darn good when it comes to sci fi!
  7. JK Rowling Stephen King Harper Lee Dan Brown Khaled Hosseneni Paulo Coelho Haruki Murakami George RR Martin Enid Blyton Agatha Christie
  8. I prefer ghost novels over all the other creature fictions. But I recently started to read this superb web series called Adrian's Undead Diary. It is about a man's survival in zombie apocalypse and it is really awesome!
  9. I agree the book is a little sluggish in the middle. But the story is very beautiful and moving. The ending is just brilliant. I loved A Thousand Splendid Suns
  10. I didn't even know the movie A Clockwork Orange was based on a book. I loved that movie....maybe its time I give the book a try
  11. One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez. I haven't gone past 40 pages and every time I try to resume reading I find myself unable to do so. I know it is supposed to be a great book but it is not my cup of tea I guess
