  1. OMG we share the same birthday, January 8th, he is 30 years older than I am. OMG. He is like a god to me. I can't believe this.
  2. I hope to get to that this year too- seems its mostly all long books for me this year on the TBR.
  3. Then we can all tick one off on the 1001 Book list Did you read The Crimson Petal and the White?
  4. Now you've made me want to move it up the list!
  5. Isn't that a good thing though?
  6. Yes! Please read No Exit! It doesn't read so much as a play, its easy to read. I did the play and it remains one of my favorites out of all the plays I did (dozens). It's great, also Edward Albee's The Zoo Story is great too
  7. It's going to be hard to write the review- I don't want to give spoilers, but I didn't like the end! I did like the sample! Very strange, reminds me of JT Leroy.
  8. Interesting! I can't wait to get to it now
  9. No way! It's a fast read- I have confidence A 600 page fast read. I'm reading that later this year.
  10. Hi! I loved The Hunger Games too, have you read the Divergent trilogy? I've just finished The Pact. I am still processing it, so perhaps a review later tonight or tomorrow. Now, I am moving on to the 600 page Hunger by Michael Grant, book 2 in the Gone Saga. Gaia and I are reading this series together, so I am going to try and keep up with her Frankie- thought of you today when I saw Running with Scissors on Kindle sale today. I downloaded the sample. I'm going to check out a tad now and if I like it, snag it for 2 dollars!
  11. And you were so looking forward to the weekend! I hope you get back to sleep. I wish I would sleep!
  12. Aw! Did you start with that one? What are you using to color with? Could you buy a new one, just to keep and the other to practice and have fun with?
  13. I liked it a lot, I was in my early 20's but I still didn't identify with Holden. The Pact is going quickly- a book at 481 pages I thought would drag, I should have more faith in Picoult. I can't put it down and when I pick it up for 20 minutes, I am astonished by how much I've read!
  14. These are simply amazing, definitely worth a wiki read.
  15. I have yet to receive it, it should be here tomorrow... I've been ogling it since you posted about it! I won't color them in either, they are too beautiful! I want the post cards now.
  16. Ah ha! There it is! Great review, I am looking forward to it! Did you feel there were too many characters/ storylines going on? Or does Follett handle that was well as he does in Pillars and WWE?
  17. Thanks! We are looking forward to Pete the Cat: Scuba Cat It just came out on the 5th... is it bad I know that?
  18. 10 a year is good progress! My mom just laughed when I told her I had 48... she said "You're almost there!" Thanks! You too! I had some questions about audiobooks over in the What are you reading thread... I don't know if you saw them or not. I'm considering Amazon's audio program for the HP books, I've never read them, but Jim Dale is an awesome storyteller and just the way I'd want it in my head. Besides, at 30 dollars a book, I think the program would be worth it! Does it actually take 27 hours for Order of the Phoenix? Today I bought some books, and treated myself. Laura Ingalls Wilder- Pioneer Girl Another collection of the Little House on the Prairie books Johanna Basford- Lost Ocean (Book 3 of her coloring book series) James Dean- Pete the Cat: Scuba Cat (new release for my daughter) Janet Pascal- Who was Abraham Lincoln? (again, for my daughter, these are a collection that number around 25-30 books)
  19. Is it Nightrise?
  20. About how fast do you go through an audio book? I am considering the Harry Potter series (by joining the Amazon program) but goodness, they are long. Do you feel it is a different experience than reading the book? Because I think I could read 750 some pages in less than 29 hours! Wow- impressive reading! Did you like Fall of Giants? I plan on read it later this year. I hope you like Catcher in the Rye!
  21. Ya on the beach with her feet up reading So far, I had 48 on the list But it definitely leads to a growing TBR. I started with the 2000's.
  22. Thanks- I hope your "mojo" stays with you! You've done a lot of reading this year already! And Under the Skin is on mine I just had this same thing happen to me with my last read, The Lemon Tree. It ended at 80% as well. However, it had a proper end. Oooh- Cool! I hope you like it!
  23. I finished The Lemon Tree by Sandy Tolan and started Jodi Picoult's The Pact.
  24. The Lemon Tree: An Arab, A Jew and the Heart of the Middle East Sandy Tolan, 384 pages + loads of extra acknowledgments This extraordinary story is based on the true lives of a Jewish Israeli woman and a Palestinian man and how their lives come together. Told through their histories, alongside that of the history of Israel and Palestine, Sandy Tolan outdoes himself in the extensive research of this book. The two characters, Dalia and Bashir are dynamic individuals, both striving for a different sort of Israel, but tied together by a lemon tree. The story of The Lemon Tree is the secret to the book. It was enlightening to learn more about the history of Israel, it really helps to have a working knowledge of the beginnings of the country and the men behind it- it was interesting to learn more about the roles of Ben- Gurion, Menachem Begin, Yitzhak Rabin, Ariel Sharon and Benjamin Netanyahu. The Lemon Tree focuses on the boarder town of al- Ramla, and the forced removal of Bashir’s family and the Palestinians that lived there. It also tells the story of Dalia, whose parent’s escaped the holocaust in Bulgaria to start afresh in al- Ramla. When the two finally become friends, she, as Jewish, identifies with Bashir’s expulsion from his homeland. But they disagree on how that should come about.
