  1. The topics for September are posted They are hard to read, being so small and some aren't very original, but I guess it must be hard to pick 30 topics no one else has picked! "Your literary crush" sounds fun...as does "a book to turn someone into a reader". I guess we won't be playing in September
  2. Yes, I love this too, I usually read by my computer just for this reason. The books I've been reading lately, I have needed Google badly! I love being transported to different lives and worlds, even with fiction. I love the twists and turns in books and I LOVE when I can't figure out the end, but that usually happens as I don't like to figure it out, I like to be surprised (like with the Allegiant). Oh- and if I can find one, I like to get emotional during a read (like with Catherine Ryan Hyde- especially Don't Let Me Go), which is hard because I am not that emotional of a person!
  3. I have the feeling I've already read Man is Wolf to Man- does that ever happen to you guys? I remember certain details, but not the whole thing!
  4. These are really cool- new posters released for up coming Mockingjay PT1 *Gale, gasp, faints* Hunger Games: Meet the rebel army http://insidemovies.ew.com/2014/08/27/mockingjay-posters/ About 3 months to go!
  5. That's a great idea! I keep a list on page one and can use red to change the ratings if I want
  6. That's really cool about her gravesite- let us know if you find it! Good review (as always!).
  7. I just started Man is Wolf to Man by Janusz Bardach, on a whim, really. It was recommended to me by Goodreads, and I already owned it! Which is good because I can't find it on Amazon anymore. I read alot about the Holocaust and Gulag's, but this one is really harsh, with a dark sense of foreboding and I haven't even gotten to the worst parts yet. I'm 17% in. I also have an essay to read for class today, which I am putting off til the last minute. It's about the changing of traditional families- yawn. It's 4 standard pages. I hope you like it as much as I do!
  8. Everything is cool in your country
  9. I will download the kindle sample and check it out- I've always wondered what would be a good one of his to start with.
  10. A little fun, skateboarders on buckled neighborhood streets:
  11. I second Hunter S Thompson- especially Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas- that's a whole lotta sex, drugs and rock n roll there. Learn something new everyday... *goes to kindle store*
  12. Surprising you say that! I was just thinking I never hear of him on here. I haven't had the pleasure of reading anything by him yet.
  13. Adam Cartwright *swoon*
  14. August 26th- A book worth persevering with. I'm going with my recent read of Ayn Rand's The Fountainhead. I wouldn't recommend this book for everyone, but those who do read it, I encourage to stick it out. At the end, you kind of feel like your mind has been expanded or challenged. It was a great book in that regard.
  15. I liked the TV show, but as a kid, it always irked me that the TV show was so much different from the books. But I loved Michael Landon especially in Bonanza.
  16. How did you like BBC History Magazine? I still think the Inca part was my favorite. I saw this map on Rome and thought of you, check out the first one in real time and #3 is really neat too. http://www.vox.com/2014/8/19/5942585/40-maps-that-explain-the-roman-empire
  17. I wish I could enter this one- this book sounds really cool! I like the UK cover best too
  18. Sounds good- the whole time I was thinking of The Bell Jar and then you mentioned it! You're so sweet, Frankie I wish I knew you in person, you have lucky friends!
  19. We were all woken up by a strong series of aftershocks this morning at 5:33am. 3.9 was the strongest, followed by a 2.7 3 minutes later and then a 2.7 2 minutes after that. Rockin' and Rollin'... That sounds beautiful! I am so glad you both had such a wonderful day- you totally deserve it. Everything sounds so peaceful and relaxed. Here is to a lifetime of nothing but happiness and love. I'm glad you were able to reconnect with your brother too.
  20. Really? That's interesting! I know you liked Walk Me Home a lot too. I simply liked Don't Let Me Go more because it made me feel so emotional- it's hard for a book to do that to me. I hope to get to one of her books in the next week or so, depending on how Trainspotting goes...
  21. Woohooo! I hope you like it, I think it is my favorite!
  22. Totally off the topic of What are you watching, but I wish the jail/ prison system focused more on rehabilitation vs. punishment. Here, it just seems like criminals refine their craft and then are released to do worse things. Isn't it more rehabilitation in Finland? I think of you guys as so much more open minded there.
  23. There is an Audiobook through Amazon for Carrie, narrated by Sissy Spacek, I can totally recommend, it was GREAT. I'd also be up for a re-reading of Horns.
  24. It's my favorite of his big three- Heart Shaped Box, Horns and NOS4A2. The movie will be out on Halloween here!
