  1. Hi Inver, yes sort of ha ha. Was born in England to Scottish parents and brought up in Scotland and Germany so am a bit of mishmash lol. Spent many weekends travelling all over with my brother when he played up to semi professional level so I know how important parental support is to all kids!
  2. Well at least Cornwall and Scotland are on course to get here some day lol!
  3. Only one book has made me get up and check the back doors in the night that was Tana French "Broken Harbour", I know it's mad I can read the most god awful things human beings can do to each other but can't watch scary films. So it's with a little sigh I then pick up Debbie Macomber or some such after reading 400 pages of dismemberment and torture! My husband often wonders why I don't get nightmares,I wonder if it's because I have a dark soul lol
  4. Oh I'm glad Amanda, I've only read one Chelsea Cain but really enjoyed it. She can be quite gruesome lol
  5. Hi everyone, I didn't expect to find a thread like this on a site. I'm a football addict I support Rangers and follow West Ham down here in England. Taking my wee boy up to the Rangers v Airdrie game in November for his first trip to Scotland Am so glad all the football has started properly now but could really do without Internationals, I'm definately a club over country girl!
  6. Born in England, raised in Scotland and Germany, now live in England back in the same town I was born in but I consider myself Scottish..... long story lol.... Would love to live in Spain! The world is amazing!
  7. Just wondering if I'm alone in this, I love really gory, psychological, profiler, serial killer books but sometimes when I finish one I have to read what I call an inbetween. If it's been quite gruesome i will go for a chick lit or somehing light, before I once agin foray into the darkside. Anyone else like that or am I alone? ..........
  8. That's a shame, I'm quite a fan for a little light hearted read in between what i call my "big" books lol
  9. I like her books, I have just finished Whiskey Beach. The Boonsboro Trilogy was good too, I prefer these to her J.D. Robb series.
  10. I love Elvis and Joe, the last book was brilliant, there are ages between books so I usually have to do a recap of the last book before starting the next one lol. If I was in trouble, these are the two guys I would want looking out for me!
  11. I am one of those odd people that don't like to watch films where I've read the books before. There are only a few exceptions, Salmon Fishing In The Yemen is one I enjoyed. This book for me was almost overwhelmingly good and I want to watch it but will have to somehow "forget" the book if that's even possible lol
  12. Markus Zusak announced the trailer will be shown today on his facebook page, I am excited and scared at the same time.
  13. I read about a third of it and I just wanted to slap her, and not in a sexual way. There are much better books out there of this genre. However it must be said she found the perfect time and market.
  14. I agree, the one from Sunnydale High (buffy the vampire slayer)
  15. I would recommend Paper Towns by John Green and also Harlan Coben has written two YA titles following on the back of his Myron Bolitar series. Very good.
  16. I really like Marian Keyes, but I don't think this was one of her best. Bur I still enjoyed it, I love the Walsh family and the way her books are written it's like they live next door.
  17. These are wonderful and gentle I also loved them on tv. He is a superb writer.
  18. I loved The Book Thief, it's my favourite ever book, as soon as I stopped crying I went straight to my mums and made her read it. It has become my book bore as my husband calls it. I recommend everyone to read it its amazing. My grandad was German so this was a new vision of growing up in Germany during the war. What a book, I cant recommend it enough. Bore over........
  19. I love all his books, also love John Connolly but have to almost psych myself up to read his as I know they're going to be gory
  20. I wait so eagerly for so many then devour them! Peter James Peter Robinson Jeffrey Deaver Kathy Reichs Karin Slaughter Mark Billingham To name a few, I could go on....
  21. I really enjoy his books and have also likened them to Simon Kernick, another fav of mine. I like that style of books though everything happens in 24 hours, lets my imagination run riot! Lol
  22. Hiya, I read this with my book group. I was disappointed and think it's overrated. There are better books out there. I didn't care about the main characters the only one I liked was his sister.
  23. I have just finished this book in one day, it was on our promotion shelf at work and I picked it at random. I recommend it, a thoroughly good read! Psychological, twisted and sad but I really cared about the wife. Be gentle, I'm new here lol
