  1. This makes me want to read the Shadow of the Wind I have some good library (ies) niggling at the back of my mind, but I cannot for the life of me tink of what book it's from. Very frustrating...
  2. It will be the 30th We're just having a very small ceremony with 6 close friends, then a few more friends joining us for dinner at our favourite restaurant after, so very low key.(my family know about it though, and my parents did the same thing when they got married, so no bad feelings about not being there for the wedding. I've always been very clear with them I am not a wedding person) We're not going anywhere straight away due to lack of holidays etc, but will hopefully get away somewhere nice next year. Thinking Sorrento, Italy at the moment, but things may change I am looking forward to it - just not the ceremony part- I'm not a great fan of public displays of emotion (when it comes to my own) so I am dreading it! But it should only take about 15 minutes then we can party! haha
  3. Hi- yes most likely I will try to go and see it, I read it because I saw the trailer and wanted to read the book first Not sure I will be reading the rest of the books in the series though, but will definitely give the film a go, although I dont think I will get my other half to go with me!
  4. I started reading the first book, but I have yet to finish it. Too much repition and the way it's written is horrendous.. oh my, my inner goddess was definitely not doing sommersaults!
  5. Luanda, Angola
  6. Well, August has been, and will still be quite busy for me Both me and the other half have handed in our notices as we have both been offered new jobs, which we are starting in September some time. Lots of nights out, birthday parties, a stagger, and a surprise hen weekend as we are also getting married next Friday! (eek) A very small affair, with no families, just six of our closest friends, but still, I am stressing out- will be glad when the ceremony is over! (I am so not a wedding person)

  9. I got my kindle last year, and I love it - I read so much more now! Also, as we are really tight on space in our flat is a really good way of clearing clutter. most of my new books aree-books now, and a few of the paperback ones from my bookshelf have beeen replaced by e-books, creating more space.
  10. I started reading The White Queen as the series started on BBC and I ended up really liking it. For some reason I always have this idea that I'm going to find PG's books really hard to get into but it's never the case. The book was much better than the series I thought, and I now have The Red Queen on my list to read, although, I didnt like Margaret in the series as a character so I'm kind of thinking I wont like the Red Queen much - again, I will most likely change my mind once I actually start reading the book.
  11. This makes me want to read the night circus! It's been on my kindle wishlist for a while, but somehow I have never gone for it. My favourites off the top of my head this year must be The snow child, by Eowyn Ivey, and The Help by Kathryn Stocket. Really enjoyed both of them and hadnt really had any expectations to them when I started them.
  12. This month I finished reading the emigrants, by Vilhelm Moberg. It's a series I have really put off reading for ages as I thought it would be a bit dreary, but it really wasn't so I will have to continue on the next book in the series soon. After a quick chic lit book (Jenny Colgan's Do you remember the first time) which I finished in two days(it wasnt all that great) I have started on the Secret Keeper by Kate Morton. Not sure what to make of it yet- it's a new author to me.

    Morning!

Hi everyone - I'm new here, so I thought I would introduce myself I'm Carelia, 30 years old, and live in Scotland. Originally I am from Sweden/Norway though. I really enjoy reading, but find it comes and goes in periods how much reading I get done, so I sometimes need some inspiration to keep going. I was a member of an online bookgroup before and I loved it, so thought this would be a good idea some favourite authors include; Victor Hugo, Tracy Chevalier, Meg Cabot, Vilhelm Moberg, Astrid Lindgren, Roald Dahl, Sophie Kinsella, Phillip Pullman, JK Rowling, and Harper Lee. - Bit of a mix, but I do generally read a mixture of genres and authors. Looking forward to speak to you all in the forums!
