  1. LOL! I know, I have a Kindle Fire. Everytime I want the new one they keep coming out with more!
  2. I love her books! She is one of the best contemporary romance writers today. All of her books are witty, intelligent, and romantic. My favorites have to be Wedding Girl and Twenties Girl! I would like to read Wedding Night.
  3. Welcome Maggiee! Athena, have you ever read Sophie Kinsella?
  4. You must mean the adaptation staring Timothy Dalton! I haven't seen that one but have seen him in Wuthering Heights. He doesn't look like Heathcliff however his acting was great!
  5. The best Jane Eyre adaptation is the one starring Ruth Wilson and Toby Stephens. It was sooooooooooo romantic!
  6. Same here! Although growing up I used to be a fan of a book series called the Babysitters Club.
  7. Thank you Brian! Watching a Lucy Worsley doc about houses throughout the ages.

    Hi

Hi gg Thank you for the book recommendation. Have you read anymore books based on the Tudors? I am reading The First Elizabeth by Carolly Erickson it's about Elizabeth I. I love the book so far! And what's great is that the author isn't very bias (which is not common with historical writers).
  9. Sounds nice! Which classic Miss Marple? The adaptations starring Joan Hickson? Welcome to the forum by the way.
  10. A show called American Dreams, it used to be on NBC. I loved it!
  11. Welcome Rachel! Who are some of your favorite authors?
  12. Another Alison Weir fan! Hi andrzej! Welcome to the forum! Have you ever read "The Six Wives of Henry VIII" by Weir ? It was great.
  13. Hi Booknutt! I agree with you. The first Historical fiction book I read by my favorite Historical fiction author (Jean Plaidy) was Rose Without A Thorn. It was an excellent book and one of my favorites! After that I read many of her other books i.e. The Lady in the Tower, and began to notice some flaws in her writing whereas in the beginning I did not. But maybe it has nothing whatsoever to do with one's initial awe of the author. Perhaps it's just that certain books are just not written as well as some others.
  14. Thank you gg! I'm able to watch some historical documentaries on Netflix but watch most of them on YouTube.
  15. I do like reading about American history as well; but I particularly enjoy reading about English history. Perhaps it's because many of my ancestors come from England. I particularly like Native American history i.e. Pocahontas...I asked in another thread but was wondering if anyone knew of any definitive biographies about Pocahontas?
  16. Hi gg! Am watching a documentary called The Time Travelers Guide to Elizabethan England. A very fascinating series hosted by Dr Ian Mortimer.
  17. Hi peter! I have a Kindle as well and really love it! When I first saw there were free e-books I was excited. The first book I got was "England under the Tudors" by Arthur Innes -- but was disappointed to find how poorly edited, excessively long and boring it was to read. (And I love reading about history!)
  18. Hi gg! I looooooooove Paolo Nutini! He's very handsome! I have both of his albums. He is so talented! What's your favorite song of his?
  19. They overly romanticized the relationship between Elizabeth and Dudley quite a bit in the Mirren version. It's not quite as faithful as some of the other biographies.
  20. Hi peter Are you an Agatha Christie fan?

    Hi

    Thank you bobblybear!
  22. Hi Pontalba What did you think of Elizabeth I starring Helen Mirren? I ask because I've seen all Elizabeth I portrayals and am an avid reader of Elizabeth I/Elizabethan biographies/historical fiction/history.
  23. Thank you Karsa Orlong Is anyone else going to read/re-read Wolf Hall?
  24. Hi When did Stringer write his mysteries: is he a modern author? Though it's a different era, perhaps the creator of Foyle's War drew inspiration from Stringers' mysteries? I like the show as well, there's a new season coming too. Foyle's War is one of the few mystery shows I like besides Agatha Christie adaptations.
