About Me
I'm an English expat living in the Netherlands with my wife and our son who was born in February 2012. I read a fair bit but don't often get to talk to other people about it. To give you some idea about my tastes so far this year the books I've read for the first time are:
Fiction-
Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk
Money by Martin Amis
White Teeth by Zadie Smith
The Red House by Mark Haddon
Snuff by Terry Pratchett
Lionel Asbo - Martin Amis
NW -Zadie Smith
Juliet, Naked - Nick Hornby
Non-fiction-
Life On Air by David Attenborough
Quest For The Lost World by Brian Blessed
The Dig Tree by Sarah Murgatroyd
500 Mile Walkies by Mark Wallington
Neither Here Nor There, Made In America, The Life & Times Of The Thunderbolt Kid all by Bill Bryson
My favourite non-fiction book is probably A Spot Of Bother by Mark Haddon because his depiction of middle-class England makes me laugh so hard with self-aware cynicism and I tend to find myself drawn towards works that deal with an individual's solitude, be it imagined or real.
