I went past a charity shop today and bought some books:
Maeve Binchy - Circle of Friends
Katie Fforde - Highland Fling
Laura Lippman - Tess Monaghan 7: The Last Place (didn't know it was part of a series)
Harry Turtledove - Opening of the World 1: Beyond the Gap
Nicholas Evans - The Horse Whisperer
I also bought one book that I already had , the books were cheap though so it's not a big deal (and it does help charity).
More to come in a while, I plan to buy a Stephen King book among others, the people on this forum have been pretty positive about his books and since I already like some of his books, I thought I should buy another one (or maybe two..). I'm thinking about getting 11/22/63 or The Stand.

I haven't got a library card anymore and the website doesn't have a picture. This link shows you the prices and details of each card, in Dutch of course.

I received my copy of The Descendants by Kaui Hart Hemmings from Amazon yesterday, which is my February book club book. I managed to find an edition without George Clooney on the front cover, so it's all good!
I hope you like it! I thought it was a pretty good book .

Nice book shelves, beef !

awwww that's a shame, I hope they will replace it! I presume you can redownload your books through your account? My kindle just broke...I think I might cry
XD this is great! This is what I did today at lunch time, my friend Sarah decided to film it. This is an accurate representation of my maturity level. -
By the way, I find it curious that you guys have adult cards and apparently children cards, too. Over here we all have the same card, no matter what our age.
We have adult and children's cards too. The children's one (up to age 17) is free and has different limits than the adult one (for adults they have several different cards with different prices and limits).

Nice review, Karsa! I'll have to give it a go sometime .

I've read a bit more in Robert Jordan, Brandon Sanderson - Wheel of Time #13: Towers of Midnight but I'm a little ashamed to admit that in most of my spare time, I rearranged book shelves, went onto book sites etc. and read this forum . In short I've been busy with books, but not that much with actually reading them XD. But I'm having fun.

Not nice that they keep declining you ><.They told me to check my debit card. That was the problem the last time I tried registering. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong... but then again, when ex signed up he had the same kind of debit card and he got in fine, and he was there when I tried signing and I did it just the same way he did.@ libraries
Here if you want to reserve a book from your own library it's free (I had to look it up), that's pretty good. If you want to borrow a book that is very popular though it'll cost you a bit of money, I don't know if other libraries have this. I used to go to libraries all the time when I was younger, then I started to read more and more English books though which our libraries don't have that much of (also, I'd read a lot of the interesting books in the libraries already, for those ages).

Nice picture of those books! I only own the first volume, I'll reread it sometime and if I like it better this time (I'm older now), buy the rest. My cover is different but then I bought it ages ago.

These days I don't write in any of my books. When I was younger, I wrote my name in a few that I lend to other people. This may sound odd but I've never thought of keeping a record of book quotes or passages. Is that weird? I've never really needed to I guess. Just recently, I've begun to take notes (on the computer) about books I've read. I guess my reading experience is improving!

That is very cute!

I don't mind at all!
They are:
Mark Valentine - The Werewolf Pack
H. P. Lovecraft - The Whisperer in Darkness (Collected Short Stories 1)
H. P. Lovecraft - The Horror at the Museum (Collected Short Stories 2)
Gaston Leroux - Phantom of the Opera
James Malcolm Rymer - Varney, the Vampire
I'm ashamed to admit I haven't read any of them yet! So I can't tell you if they're good or not. I bought most of them for cheap on a book fair.

I don't know if you have book fairs in other countries, since a few years ago I discovered the Netherlands has one! They're in a different city each month, and every year in the same place (usually..). They're also in Belgium. Inside the building that it's at, there's tables and tables of books (Dutch and English), information books as well as novels. There are also some comics and manga, as well as a bunch of miscellaneous things such as wrapping paper and things for children. Everything has been on display on book shops but they couldn't sell it. Most things are very cheaply priced compared to what you'd pay in a book shop. On occasion a book is damaged (don't buy it in that case, imo), most of the time it's in pretty good condition. It's generally busy, but lots of fun. Anyway, I go to book fairs sometimes and then come home with a load of books . It's always a lot of fun for bookwurm me . Has anyone else had any experience with a book fair? (I realise it may be completely different from my own, since most of you live in a different country etc)

I liked the Bridget Jones films, are the books any good? (sorry if it's off topic) Judging by your post it seems you didn't really like them?
-
I've rearranged my classics, no idea I had so many XD! The books at the top haven't been arranged that nicely, I was on my own and I can hardly reach up there. Anyway, this may be something temporary since I'm hoping to buy a new book case.
EDIT: I actually bought a lot of these literary books at book fairs, for a cheap price. I saw them and thought they might be interesting to read, since I hadn't read a lot of foreign literature before (mostly Dutch).
-
My parents own a few of them in Dutch. They've been on my TBR list for a while, nowadays though I prefer the original English versions so I might have to go out and buy the originals. My parents liked the books. I've seen The Da Vinci Code the film, I liked it.

Here are some pics from our travels and treks these last few years-

I'd ordered them according to places - but photobucket's mixed it all up!
Those are beautiful pictures!!

I didn't know GoodReads would be telling you things like that (that's pretty neat)! I haven't committed to a challenge (yet at least), I'm not sure if I want to because I might experience it as too much pressure.

I really like that film! It's so sweet, romantic and funny.Watched Notting Hill again last night. -
I am ashamed to admit I thought the exact same thing .When I first saw that SK book, I actually thought it was a biography about himself, and the title meant it was about the goings on in his mind.I feel rather embarrassed about it now The picture of an elderly gentleman on the cover fooled me.

chappatti
I guess you could call it flattened bread made from whole wheat - except the dough isn't fermented, and it's fried on a skillet and not baked
Looks good . I hope your dinner was nice .
