  1. I'm glad you are having a good time . It's nice you got to spend time with both your and your BF's family. Awww, I'm glad she was cute ! Yay ! Me too ! It's my table cloth . It's from France, we found it at a local market in the south of France (my parents gifted it to me for my birthday last year, after I had picked it during our holiday in France). I love it too .
  2. I don't know if it's okay yet to post in this thread, whether you are done setting it up. If you are not done, let me know and I'll remove my post! It is perfectly fine to update your thread for as long as you want. The (b)log doesn't have to be a yearly thing . Most are, that's true, but we have (and have had) some people in the past who just want one continuing log and that's fine too . It's all good . Welcome back ! I'll be following your thread .
  3. I did know some of that yes, but I didn't know about the non-fiction part! Thanks for that ! I find this kind of information very interesting.
  4. It's nice you read some nice books , quite a bit of variety !!
  5. Valley of the Damned by DragonForce.
  6. Awwww, she's beautiful . The books look great . I hope you enjoy all of them !
  7. Thanks !! I think it's definitely interesting! In previous years I had a pretty even balance between male and female authors, but somehow this year I've read a lot more by female authors . I have! Thank you !! I wish you happy reading for the rest of 2018 too!!
  8. Nice to 'see' you on the forum . I hope you are doing well ? Ah sorry I don't post about every newly acquired book in my thread anymore. I did receive the book!! Here is a picture : I haven't read it yet though, but I plan to . Sounds good .
  9. Interesting article, thanks for that !
  10. I'm sorry to hear it's so noisy there . I saw some footage on the news of what was going on. I wish you a very happy holiday, hope you have fun !!
  11. I read A. J. Steiger - When My Heart Joins the Thousand. Synopsis: "Alvie Fitz doesn’t fit in, and she doesn’t care. She’s spent years swallowing meds and bad advice from doctors and social workers. Adjust, adapt. Pretend to be normal. It sounds so easy. If she can make it to her eighteenth birthday without any major mishaps, she’ll be legally emancipated. Free. But if she fails, she’ll become a ward of the state and be sent back to the group home. All she wants is to be left alone to spend time with her friend, Chance, the one-winged hawk at the zoo where she works. She can bide her time with him until her emancipation. Humans are overrated anyway. Then she meets Stanley, a boy who might be even stranger than she is — a boy who walks with a cane, who turns up every day with a new injury, whose body seems as fragile as glass. Without even meaning to, she finds herself getting close to him. But Alvie remembers what happened to the last person she truly cared about. Her past stalks her with every step, and it has sharp teeth. But if she can find the strength to face the enemy inside her, maybe she’ll have a chance at happiness after all." I quite liked this book. I really liked Alvie and Stanley. I really liked the autism representation in this. I also liked that Alvie likes animals so much. The middle of the book was a bit slow, I struggled with that a bit. I liked the references to Watership Down, though I haven't read that book yet (I plan to read it some day though). There are some deeper themes throughout the book and I enjoyed the plot twists. Overall I quite liked this book.
  12. yay! Have fun reading the newspapers and magazines !! That's very true!
  13. July 11th: Future Classics Sam's Note: --What books do you think with stand the test of time? One I've recently read and I can think of on top of my head, The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. Other than that though I'll have to give it a bit more of a think.
  14. Wow, you read a lot !! You definitely made good use of the 3-month Kindle Unlimited . I'm at 160 books read . Awesome that there are many that you recommend ! I have the top one on my TBR (thanks to you for alerting me to the free deals !). I plan to buy Go by Kazuki Kaneshiro (as per your recommendation ), the paperback comes out near the end of August. I'll probably pre-order it a little while before that date.
  15. It's nice to see you're still reading CRH . I have Heaven Adjacent but I haven't read it yet (I haven't actually read the last few books she's published, but all in good time!). Glad it was an allright read .
