Wow, I'm glad you're back, it's not nice at all to be ill .

Thanks, dex ! Yesterday we went into town briefly, I visited the charity shop and bought some more books (I know.. I wasn't really planning on doing this, but they had some nice ones for a cheap price.. , two of which were on my wishlist. I can't believe for how cheap I got these books, and they're in quite good condition too). Chris Manby - Girl Meets Ape Mike Gayle - Dinner for Two Rosie Milne - How to Change Your Life Elisabeth Robinson - The True and Outstanding Adventures of the Hurd Sisters Amy Jenkins - Honeymoon Sarah Ball - Nine Months Faith Bleasdale - Rubber Gloves or Jimmy Choos? Faith Blaesdale - Deranged Marriage I plan to start reading Robert Jordan - The Wheel of Time 0: New Spring soon. On the Kindle I'm still reading Temple Grandin - Animals Make Us Human: Creating the Best Life for Animals. In the past few days I haven't done much reading, I think it's because I read a lot in the read-a-thon and so I needed a break from reading. Or something. Where's my mojo?? (in its defense though, I've been busy with book-related things, such as making a list of the books I recently bought and reorganising my shelves).

I'm glad to hear your mojo is back!! I'm also glad to hear you enjoyed The Night Circus .

Nice review , it's going on the wishlist!
-
Good luck! Glad they all seem really nice . I'm still being quite tired and stressed, but I've only had my diploma for ~ 2 weeks so I guess it just takes more time. I've been stressed and tired for a long time, so maybe I just need to be more patient.

Excellent !!

Here's a list of all the books I bought at Het Boekenfestijn recently (see the photos earlier in this thread). Most of the books were really cheap. The most expensive one was €5,95, a Dutch book (it's somewhat cheap for a Dutch book), and the cheapest one was €1,50. Most of the books were between €1,95 - €2,95. There were a lot of really cheap ones. Like, "I can't believe it's only €1,95!" (note: I've organised the genres and grouped them together based on which genres are more alike, it doesn't mean that I like Young-Adult Paranormal the best (I like it but love other genres more)). Some of these books I don't know a lot about, just that the blurb sounded good, the cover looked attractive and it was cheap.. So far though, I've liked nearly all of the books I've bought at Het Boekenfestijn in the past (I mean, out of those I've read ). I seem to be able to estimate nicely what I think I'll like. I've discovered some really great books and authors at Het Boekenfestijn (by purchasing and reading the books). I probably wouldn't have started to read classic non-Dutch literature (ie. Jane Eyre) or chick-lit (ie. Confessions of a Shopaholic), for example, if it wasn't for books I bought at Het Boekenfestijn. I'm happy with my new books . I still need to put them away onto their proper shelves, but I have mostly finished with making space for them by moving things around and organising it better etc. I always find it a lot of fun to arrange my shelves, hold my books, look at them.. (you can't get these things with an e-reader). It cheers me up to have it look nicer and more organised than it did before I started. Young-Adult Paranormal Charlaine Harris - Sookie Stackhouse 10: Dead in the Family Maggie Stiefvater - Books of Faerie 1: Lament (I had this on the Kindle but I prefer paperback) L. J. Smith - The Vampire Diaries: Stefan's Diaries 3: The Craving Rachel Caine - Weather Warden 3: Chill Factor Rachel Caine - Weather Warden 4: Windfall Rachel Caine - Weather Warden 5: Firestorm Rachel Caine - The Morganville Vampires 2: The Dead Girls' Dance Rachel Caine - The Morganville Vampires 3-4: Volume 2: Midnight Alley and Feast of Fools Kelley Armstrong - The Darkest Powers Trilogy 3: The Reckoning Michael Grant - BZRK 1: Bzrk Young-Adult Contemporary Fiction and Chick-lit Carry Slee - Afblijven (I read this when I was a child and thought it'd be nice to own it) Lisa Greenwald - Sweet Treats & Secret Crushes Sarra Manning - Adorkable Lauren Oliver - Before I Fall Sophie Dahl - Playing with the Grown-Ups Vanessa Curtis - Zelah Green 2: Zelah Green: One More Little Problem Horror Stephen King - Bag of Bones Thrillers Jo Nesbø - Harry Hole 6: The Redeemer Jo Nesbø - Harry Hole 7: The Snowman Detectives Krista Davis - A Domestic Diva Mystery 2: The Diva Takes the Cake Krista Davis - A Domestic Diva Mystery 3: The Diva Paints the Town Graphic Novels Oscar Wilde, Roy Thomas & Sebastian Fiumara - The Picture of Dorian Gray Emily Brontë, Jim Pipe & Nick Spender - Wuthering Heights Charlotte Brontë, Fiona Macdonald & Penko Gelev - Jane Eyre Science-fiction Jack McDevitt - Moonfall Arthur C. I liked The Perks of Being a Wallflower though I didn't love it as some other people did, what did you think of it? Gone (the first book) is on my TBR, as is Bag of Bones, Under the Dome, 22.11.63 and Slaughterhouse Five (last one on the Kindle). Did you like them?

Which series and season of Star Trek is the episode from? Just so I know how long I'll have to wait before I can see it . We've watched the first half of the first season of TOS but then we stopped for some reason and went to watch other things. We should get back to it sometime.

x I agree! When I was studying (I'm 27), a lot of the students did a lot of partying. Generally I got along better with the ones who didn't do that that much. I've only seen a minor amount of students talking about books, reading (not study-related) or carrying a book with them (that's not study related).

Nice that you got some job offers, muggle. I hope you can make a decision that feels right for you .
-
Poor Eleonora, it must be really difficult .
-
This book is on my TBR, though I've heard there's also a part two so I might wait with reading it until I have the full series (maybe it'll be a trilogy?) Signor Finzione, if you type [ spoiler ] Your spoiler goes here [ / spoiler ] without spaces, it shows up as: Thought this might be helpful .

I liked The Redemption of Althalus but haven't yet read any other books by Eddings. I have a lot of them (though I plan to replace the Dutch ones with English ones at some point). I feel like there isn't as much (new) fantasy being written by new authors compared to a while ago. Most of the fantasy I buy or that's on my shelves was published a while ago. These days you see more paranormal Young-Adult things (which I like too but I love fantasy). Maybe this is just what I see in the places I look, though, or what's more popular. Anyway, I'm always up for more (fantasy) recommendations. Karsa, I look forward to hear what you think of Prince of Thorns.

Thanks , I'll bookmark the page to look at!

x Excellent!! I'm glad you're enjoying it. I'll get around to reading it sooner or later .. x x Glad to hear that it's worth a read . Yeah I'll probably wait and see if I can pick it up cheaply at some point. -
x That's annoying . I hope you'll still read the book even if it's not the size you wanted. I also prefer smaller paperbacks and haven't yet read some of my books because of their size (and weight). Nice review .
-
I've not seen any Jack Vance books for sale in any shop I've been in, so from that point of view you got a great deal in my opinion! I'll wait and see if I find them sometime, or whether I'll have to go on Amazon marketplace or something to buy them. Good luck not buying books, I think it will be difficult but I think you could do it if you really want to .

Welcome here ! You listed some nice books there, I look forward to see you around on the forum!

Before this week I wasn't doing a lot of exercise because I was so mentally tired (when I'm mentally tired I can't control my body well and tell it what to do). The past few days though I've been walking with the dogs. I'm not sure how far we walked today, probably 3-4 km (since on average one walks 5 km an hour). It might not be as intensive an exercise as some other things, but I think it's a good place to start . I find walking a lot easier than running. I have asthma and if/when I run it easily becomes too much and the asthma kicks in (I was usually last at PE at school). But walking I can do for a much longer amount of time. I also enjoy seeing the dogs enjoy the walk, and looking around and talking with my family. It's physically and mentally tiring but it's healthy and fun.
-
I recently bought one book of the series, look forward to see if I like it.
-
x Thanks . x x Thanks! I hope you enjoy the books if/when you get them .

I'd like to second the Terry Pratchett books, I've read the first three but not yet The Truth. He's written many great books. Books by Raymond E. Feist are on my TBR as is The Lord of the Rings trilogy. I liked The Hobbit but didn't love it.

x I have Death on the Nile. I've always wanted to try one of her books and I saw this one for cheap at the charity shop. There are two other books by her on my wishlist (Murder on the Orient Express and And Then There Were None). If I find another one cheap I might be tempted to buy it, I've heard many good things about her books.

I recently saw a part of the first disc of Planet Earth, a documentary about the life on our planet. I'd seen parts of this a while ago and really liked it. I don't watch documentaries that often, but it's nice to see one now and then (generally I prefer to read about things rather than hear about them, though for many subjects it's nice to have pictures or video to go with it).
