Neil Palmer
I read a book sometime ago that I think would be perfect for my daughter now but I cannot remember the title or author. The story involved a young woman who solved the mystery. It was set in the 1800s (?), something to do with a photography business, a factory that makes guns and arms (but shouldn't be). I remember it being fantastic and have an image of the factory as if it was some steampunk masterpiece - please help if you can. Thanks. Madeleine
Was it Philip Pullman's "Ruby in the Smoke", that had a factory which was making guns and arms (illegally) and a young heroine called Sally Lockhart.
Neil Palmer
The synopsis doesn't sound right. Although I think it will be a good book to recommend anyway. Thank you.
Neil Palmer
Having said that, it could be the Shadow in the North! I just read the wrong one first.....
Madeleine
Yep I wasn't sure which book had the Steam Gun in it, so you're probably right, part of the same series though. I think I got them the wrong way round too, it's a long time since I read them.
