      I read somewhere that Cameron Mackintosh got the idea for the musical whilst watching Lionel Bart's "Oliver" - so maybe that's why? :)

      yes the film. Everyone had a pretty standard accent, but some of the characters did sound like they were in 'Oliver'! I know it isn't supposed to be realistic, but I just found that a bit odd!
