  1. Favourites : Fargo, Ghost World, American Psycho, American Beauty, American Splendor, High Fidelity, Sideways, Happiness (and most Todd Solondz films if I'm honest), all of Tarantino's movies EXCEPT Death Proof, The awful truth (and, admittedly, anything else with Cary Grant. I'm something of a fan girl), Battle Royale, Clockwork Orange and others
  2. I URGE you to read Lolita haha it's fantastic. And yeah, I've been meaning to read Catch 22 for years! Everytime I'm in a bookshop or a library it's there, staring me in the face but I just go "Meh, another time" and walk off.
  3. Last week someone told me it's the fastest growing language in the world. I don't know how true that is but it made me laugh.
  4. haha! The library I haunt has a tape on conversational klingon. I was so damn tempted...
  5. Memoirs of a Geisha? Really? I've read it but I didn't think it was good enough to not consider yourself a reader if you haven't read it. And Angela's Ashes is unofficially banned in my house haha Everyone here seems to be making a good point though. It's not the books you've read that make you a well-read individual, but the diversity in genres of the books you read. Though I'm not too concerned with being well-read. I read hopelessly trashy transgressive fiction out of pure enjoyment haha
  6. I say Seer-sha. But people bastardize it on a daily basis haha I've heard Sayor-sha, Sheer-sha, Shurr-sha and other variations.
  7. I was pretty disappointed by it. I suppose because I'd heard all this hype for years and when I finally read it, I felt a bit cheated. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed how it was written and everything. I just didn't see the big hooplah that everyone had built it up to be. But then I didn't see the big deal with The Dark Knight either so maybe I'm defective haha
  8. I've got a weird neutralized Irish accent :/ And I have the biggest soft spot going for Minnesota accents. Don't even get me started. They're sublime.
  9. There's a car ad out at the minute and it just blows my mind. I have no idea what car it's advertising, but it's done like a spy film. It's incredible. Incredible though evidently a waste of money, seeing as I can't remember the bloody make of the car.
  10. haha she seems to have quite the reputation around these parts!
  11. I'd like to be stuck with Vladimir Nabokov. I think we'd have a good laugh.
  12. wow this forum moves fast. Thank you all
  13. Hi, I'm Saoirse. I'm 18. My friend Roxi suggested I join this forum. And I get bashful when I have to type introductions...
