  1. I read The shadow of the wind just a few weeks ago, I had a problem wirh geting into the story though. It took me quite a while to read it, I stopped and read something else first and then got back to this book. But then I found it easier to read. Quite strange. I really don't know what to think of this book, it was weird, hard to start and easy to read in the end and I really wanted to know how it ends. Bit I'm not sure if I will read other books of this author.
  2. I love children and teen books!!! As I read a lot of crime/thriller, I really enjoy to read a kids or teen book between. That lightens everything up a bit, you know?
  3. I rembember that I loved the animated movie when I was a kid. My sister and I even called her save pig (a pig made of porcelaine to put money in, to save) Wilbur. I never know there was a book... Goes straight to my wishlist!!
  4. I started 'Little women' once, in english and it was too hard to read and so I gave up after just a few pages. I may try it in german one day though. I plan to read 'all' the classics when I'm back home.
  5. Allan Frewin Jones - The mole and Beverly Miller Myron Levoy - Three Friends Anonymous - Go ask Alice Chris Crutcher - Staying fat for Sarah Byrnes Eve Bunting - If I asked you would you stay those are my all time favourite books, I got them when I was about 13 and re read them over and over. Since this year I totally love the fantasy books of KAI MEYER, a german author. Two of his trilogies are available in english, I know for sure. Really great!!!
  6. You really read a lot! I've got the Barbara Gowdy book on my 'want to read list'
  7. oh that's what you mean... I do have a list at home, what I wanna read and what I've read. Don't have access to that for the next 10 months or so. But I started a list on books I've read while I'm in Australia. Maybe I make something like this here, I'm just not good in writing reviews and stuff...
  8. what is a reading log? Like a list? Here on the forum?

  9. I read The Woods on tuesday/wednesday and it was really good! I couldn't put it away! It was aslo my first Harlan Coben book. I saw it in the bookshelf of the hostel I stayed and because I've read good things about his books, I gave it a try.
  10. This is so great, only a few days without internet and already sooooo many wonderful Welcomes Thank y'all!!
  11. G'day grabit! I'm new here, too. Everybody seems to be very nice in this forum!
  12. Hello, thank you for the Welcome and friend request! People are so nice here!!

  13. I just finished the first two books yesterday. They were 2 in 1 and I luckily found the book at a roadhouse book exchange shelf. I liked them and really want to read the others (in order), I hope I find more while I'm here in Australia (can't buy normal price books as being a poor backpacker )
  14. I liked that one, too. I read it in german though. It was this kind of book you finish fast, entertaining but not too much to think about.
  15. I've read some books in one day but not in one sitting. I get unpatient or hungry or the dogs need a walk or whatever. No wait, I've read Roddy Doyle - The Giggler Treatment in one sitting, outloud to my bigger sister
  16. I've got mostly novels: young adult, crime, fantasy, chick lit, thriller.... and lots of cooking and baking books a few sewing and other crafts books and travel guides not so much all together, just really started 3 years ago, before I was much more into tv:blush:
  17. I read on my way to work and school (bus, train, tram), while having breakfast, during lunchbreak or at dinner (if I'm eating alone), while preparing food (if I have to wait until its cooked), in the evening if nothings interesting on tv, in bed every night until I'm too tired, if the book is really good I continue reading while walking (home from bus station), when I have to wait somewhere (waiting to meet a friend, or waiting for the train).... I carry a book with me everywhere I go, even two if the first book will be finished soon. That was during my job training. Now I'm traveling and I can read whenever I want, all day even. I soon start a job in Katherine/Northern Territory as a mango packer, I wonder how much time I will have to read then...
  18. thanks for the welcome, I like it here already

    I'm new

G'Day I didn't see this introduction site before, so here is my Hello thread... In case you wonder about my name: LOve PEace ANd HAppiness though I'm only 24 I'm kinda stuck in the 60s In germany I just finished my job training as a library assitant this summer. Right now I'm in Australia with a Working Holiday Visa. My english is not that good but I hope to get along well here. If you would like to know anything, just ask and don't wonder but I didn't figure out yet how to send those little prolie visitor massages...
  20. I just read Where rainbows end a week ago. I was stuck on a busride for 2 days and this book was perfect for that. Easy to read (I'm german and reading books in english is mostly quite a challenge), funny and just something that made the bus ride seem less long. Neverthelees it's a book I wouldn't buy to keep. I got it at a second hand bookshop and put it in exchanging shelf at the hostel when I was finished.
  21. Me, too. I've never heard of her books before and just got this one from a book exchange shelf at a hostel.
