  1. Thanks Kylie! :D I had a nice birthday with a couple of friends, activities including going to my favorite charityshops to look for books  Today I'm throwing a little party and I'm getting quite nervous, I don't particularly like playing hostess but I'm trying to remember that the people that I invited are my friends and it's really not that serious!

    Have a really nice weekend!

  2. I was just about to say what Loopyloo100 already said. More doggie pics, please :D

  3. I'm glad you like it :D Just remember to remind me in June to change my av to something more summery :P

  4. Mine too! I think it's so sweet how long he has been waiting for her to be his. And I never liked any of the other men Lorelai dated. Max, Digger... Brrhhh!

  5. Well this should make you think of winter!! Am I right?

Uuh, redecorating, that must be fun for you :)

  6. Plus, I have to say I really like how what you've done to your profile page, the artwork is beautiful!

  7. Hmph! I had to split my message in two because it was too long so here's the copy+pasted rest of it:

What is it with this forum and avatars! People seem a bit crazed about them I think. To be honest my head is spinning because people keep changing them (especially now that 'tis the season!) and I can't keep track who's who! Okay Okay hold your horses, I'll conform. I won't promise that it'll be Christmassy, but at least snowy or wintery. Or non-summer-related.

  8. Maybe it wouldn't be too naughty to get books for the ones who read at least sometimes and therefore cannot object to reading... Hmph! Ha ha, you really think I'm running late?

Yeah my BF plays something on the computer (not PS3 or Xbox though) but he downloads those games from the internet. He also studies computer technology and knows what he wants and needs and I would not dare buy him anything computer related  but thanks for the suggestions though. I'm also on a budget so cannot afford too expensive gifts, being student and all  He would like me to knit him woollen socks but I don't know if I'll be able to manage that before Christmas, because I never remember how to do them and have to be assisted by my Mom...

  9. Gosh you are organised! How can anyone be done with their shopping already?? I have bought only one present so far and have so many left to buy. As a matter a fact I don't even know yet what to get for the rest. Presents for BF and parents are especially giving me trouble  But this is no news to anyone who knows me, I'm always doing things at the last minute ;)

There is one big problem though; how do I resist the temptation to buy books for everyone? I mean, I know they make great presents but not everyone appreciates books like us :irked: That's pretty selfish!

  10. Wow, Vincent van Gogh himself. The painting is really pretty and actually because of it you are probably one of the first members I learnt by name in this forum.

Ha haa, there are never enough of good excuses to watch Gilmore Girls. I'm watching season 7 at the moment (no, that's not a hint and you do have to watch it from the start!), two more episodes till it ends and I'm really curious about Luke and Lorelai. (Not that I haven't seen it before and actually know how it goes, but you know what I mean!)

  11. I guess you forgot that it's Christmas time and Santa's little elves are watching over everyone, including you! And you must be aware that Santa lives in Korvatunturi, Finland. So it's pretty easy for me to know these things. Santa has gone quite contemporary and modern and he gets his info online and me being computer-literate makes it real easy... watch out ;)

It's good to hear you're able to drive again and therefore your back is good and your general happiness is increasing  I'm good, too, I just visited my godson this weekend, he had his first birthday! He was pretty shy with me at first and so was I (I don't see him that often unfortunately because there's 500 kilometers between us), but after all the other guests left we started bonding. It was so much fun playing with him and everytime I made him laugh it gave me a happy jolt! :smile2: Good times!

... once I figure out how it's done, omg lol.

    Hello!

And yes please! :smile2: I do like Kathy Reichs but have only read the first two books, but I blame Stephenie Meyer. Now that I'm over her, I have time to read other wonderful books. I guess there are quite a few Tempe Brennans before I'll get to Break No Bones but worry not, it will be read and cherished ;) Do you want something for the postage/the book?

I know how you feel about there not being a Booth! I've watched a couple of episodes of Bones and didn't like it, but had heard so many great things about the books that I had to try. Turns out the books are good but there's no Booth! What's that about? I wasn't actually a fan of his but I liked the chemistry between him and Brennan in the tv-series and was expecting something like that in the novels. Of course you must have taken it harder. I'm so sorry for you.

    I'll PM you my info.

    With many thanks,

    frankie

  14. Hi Kylie, how are you?

I have to ask about your avatar. I was watching an episode of the Gilmore Girls (which I happen to remember you like a lot from the old Willy Wonka vs. the new Willy Wonka debate here on the forum!) and there was a picture of your avatar on a wall in April's room. So I got curious about it and I want to know what your avatar is :)

  15. Hi Charm, how are you? Are you back behind the wheel already? Making up excuses of needing to go to the store so you could drive drive drive?

  16. frankie

Oh never mind, found it! I was looking through Alexandre Dumas, p

Hi ii! Just a tiny little question: What's La dame aux cam

  18. Now, if I were to say that your latest avatar reminds me of a mooncup, could I persuade you to choose the next one from some of your dog pics? Nope, the new avatar is quite safe :) I love the colours and it's really dreamy. I also like that picture in your signature, I actually prefer that one.

How was your weekend? I had a great one with BF, we made 8 pizzas (we sometimes go a little crazy with food) and watched movies and went to sauna. Next weekend I'm going to visit him. He actually got some great news this Monday, he gets to have his own little student appartment! No more awkward bumping into roommates! :tong: I'm so excited :smile2:

  19. Your message sent me giggling all over the place  Yeah I noticed you changed to lips before, and now that you say they might seem a bit pornish  BF is visiting this weekend and we're going to hit the town now and be active this weekend so I'll have to get back to you later! Have a nice weekend :D

  20. Picking out new avatars IS hard! I don't do forums that much so I hadn't had the trouble of choosing an avatar before I joined BCF. I almost gave up doing it at all but then realised people sometimes remember avatars better than nicks, or they at least help remembering nicks, so having one is really worth it. I haven't once changed mine after joining though, I'm so lazy :)

  21. Oh ****, now I spoiled it for you! :irked: That was definitely not my intention, so sorry :( Although I have to say that they are genious little things and I myself don't think of them in any negative way, quite the opposite; but I also understand if don't want to have an avatar that reminds you of them.

  22. Oh, I'm sorry about that spine operation, that can't have been nice. Are you okay now though? I hope so. Five weeks is a long time :irked:

Losing your mojo is a real bummer, I hate it when that happens. You go through your shelves and pick up books, put them aside, then start some of them but nothing engages you long enough. It can get really frustrating. Hopefully you'll recover soon! Sometimes going back to your favorite books or your childhood/teenage reads might help? By the way, I think your OH should be courteous enough to make a few trips to the library or book shops to get you something that might get you going again, now that you can't do that ;)

I've also noticed that after I joined BFC I read the forum more often than a book. I had to make a conscious decision to grab a book rather than spend all that time on the computer and I've made some progress now :)

  23. Hiya!

Weekend's over, BF's gone home and I'm back to my reading routines. I finished Deja Dead this afternoon and it was great! Especially after I had figured there's no Booth and you had confirmed that. There was a real twist in the end and a lot of action which I hadn't expected for a debut Tempe book, so it was good :)

I also got real lucky: I was in the library just now getting a book that had arrived for me and I noticed Death Du Jour in the returned today -shelves. I had reserved it but somehow it had slipped through the staff to the normal shelves and it could've gone to some stranger! Even though I was the next in line! I'm glad I happened to be there and I snatched it for myself :) Didn't have to pay the Euro either because I found it on my own

How long has it been since you read the Tempe books, the earlier ones? If you've sorta forgotten the plotline you may as well read them again! I'm going to do that with Scarpetta novels myself, but I'm not sure when now that I found Reichs's books...

Why aren't you able to drive? Have I missed something?

Oh and by the way, still hunting for the Dexter books? :)

I gotta go now, America's Next Top Model is waiting for me in my dear telly :smile2:

  24. Hi Charm how are you? My BF is visiting this weekend (he lives in another town) so I'm good, I just don't know if I have that much time to read :) I'm glad you asked about Reichs, because I've been so confused! I guess I was waiting for Booth to come along and something to happen quite early on with Tempe's personal life but then I realised that things happen more slowly in books than in tv :( I guess there's no Booth at all, but a different set of characters all together?

After I figured that out I've been able to enjoy the actual plotline so much more. The book's about dismembered and decapitated women that are dumped in plastic bags and Tempe thinks there's a serial killer but has a hard time convincing Claudel. Does that ring a bell? :)

This is the first book and I'm yet to be convinced that Reichs is as good as Cornwell, but I'll definitely read the next book as well, I put a reservation on it in my local library yesterday !

  25. Is The Painted Veil any good?
