      Important Announcement!   07/28/2018

Dear BCF members,   This forum has been running now for many years, and over that time we have seen many changes. Generalised forums are nowhere near as popular as they once were, and they have been very much taken over by blogs, vlogs and social media discussions. Running a forum well takes money, and a lot of care and attention, as there is so much which goes on behind the scenes to keep things running smoothly.   With all of this in mind, and after discussion within the current moderator team, the decision has been made to close this forum in its current format. I know that this will disappoint a lot of our long term members, but I want to reassure you that it's not a decision which has been taken lightly.    The remaining moderator team have agreed that we do not want to lose everything which is special about our home, and so we are starting a brand new facebook group, so that people can stay in touch, and discussions can continue. We can use it for free and should be easier for us to run (it won't need to be updated or hosted). We know not everyone has FaceBook, but we hope that those of you who are interested will join the group. We will share the link, and send invites as soon as we are ready to go. Added: We may as well get this going, find us here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/195289821332924/   The forum will close to new registrations, but will remain open for some time, to allow people to collect up any information, reading lists etc they need to, and to ensure they have contact details for those they wish to stay in touch with.    The whole team feel sad to say goodbye, but we also feel that it's perhaps time and that it feels like the right choice. We hope we can stay in touch with all of you through our new FaceBook group.   I personally want to thank everyone who has helped me moderate the forum, both in the past and the present, and I also want to thank every single person who has visited, and shared their love of books.. I'm so proud of everything we've achieved, and the home we built.   Please visit the new section in the Lounge section to discuss this further, ask questions etc.

  1. Headaches when reading?

I'm going to go back hopefully on my day off next week, I really need to try and sort it before I start my college work in a few weeks
  2. Headaches when reading?

Yes they put it down to the glasses but I might see if I can go back again or discuss it with my dr when I next see her as I'm at the dr quite frequently unfortunately!
  3. Headaches when reading?

Could be the lighting, it's not the glasses as I had my prescription redone recently since I started getting the headaches
  4. I read this book in about 2 days! I loved it! It is a very different take on a book and although it has paranormal aspects it isn't a paranormal book, it captivated me from the first line. I don't think there is anyone I wouldn't recommend this amazing book to! Its a brilliant book by an amazing author/actress/youtuber/singer!
  5. Most popular book the year you were born

    The rescue by Nicholas Sparks
  6. How much should a book cost?

I'm a student do I really can't afford to pay more than £5 for a book, unless it's for college, then it's like £50 a book!
  7. Do teenagers still read books?

I skip lunch at College so I can spend the whole hour in the library reading, I've been doing this since I was 11...
  8. In need of some new book recommendations

The Square root of summer by Harriet Reuter Hapgood All the bright places by Jennifer Niven Songs for a Teenage Nomad by Kim Culbertson Watersong series and the Trylle trilogy but Amanda Hocking (they are both brilliant) All That She Can See by Carrie Hope Fletcher
  9. John Green books

Paper towns is AMAZING! I couldn't get into Katherine's either, I've never read Hank's the Lizzie Bennett diaries but I might have to try it!
  10. John Green books

John Green has a very different style of writing that I find captivating and I love his books! And the endings are always unexpected, i loved paper towns but I think the fault in our stars is my favourite! It's the only book that's made me cry! I literally threw it at a wall! But that's how I react to good books!
  11. 13 Reasons Why

I've just read the book, I can't get into the Netflix series, it deals a lot with suicide and has a few mildly explicit scenes, tbh I wouldn't rate it 18, I'd rate it 16 at most, I was reading books like this at 14, I think it would be important for you to talk to her about suicide etc before and after she reads it though
  12. Favourite books from childhood?

I could not get into the secret 7 but (thanks to my mum!) loved the Famous 5!
  13. Favourite books from childhood?

I'm new too! I have to to say I loved the heartland (Lauren Brooke) and home farm twins series! As well as Animal Ark by Lucy Daniels!
  14. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

I've just picked up Elenor and Park by the same author, I've never read any of her books before but always heard great reviews!
  15. Headaches when reading?

Hi, when I read I get headaches, even if I'm only reading for a few minutes, I find it is solved if I'm wearing sunglasses but that's not always practical inside, and it's only if I'm reading a book or off my laptop, not when I'm on my iPad or iPod. ive had my eyes checked twice and I've got glasses but they don't help, I still wear them though, has anyone got any ideas on how i can stop these headaches as its preventing me from reading, which I love!
