HoneyGirl Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 My goodness, I have had to give up reading "Billy Brown, I'll tell your mother" - never before have I read a book which has irritated me so. Its going back to the library tomorrow, I cannot bear another word from it. I will write a little review and give the reasons why I have given up on it. I am now going to read Stranger in the House as I think it will be much more informative and reliable to be the truth. Honestly - what an awful book Billy Brown is! Quote
Parenthesis Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 Billy Brown, I'll Tell Your Mother is not a book I'm acquainted with (although, prompted by this post I have rectified this just now by reading a review), however, one book I found I had to give up reading after numerous attempts was Ken Folett's The Pillars of the Earth. The book is held in high esteem by so many, and yet, I don't understand why. I found it to be tiresome beyond extreme. Quote
ian Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 I know I've seen this book at the library myself (The Billy Brown book that is) and have been tempted to get it. Now I know to avoid. There seems to be a whole section of books that thrive in libraries based on the fact that they have eye-catching titles, but are absolutely awfull books. I fell for a similar book titled " Up a tree at night in the park with a hedgehog". Fantastic title I thought - it's bound to be really funny. Wrong! (or Epic Fail, as my son would say) Fortunately, we have this wonderful forum to "out" books like this! Quote
