martin664 Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 I recently finished to read these two books by Dan Simmons. They may be a bit too long, and the action can be quite slow sometimes, but overall I think those are great! What do you guys think? Quote
LittleW Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 I have that author on my wishlist but haven't read it yet. Quote
Karsa Orlong Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 I read Ilium a few years ago and thought it was very good - quite slow in places, as you say, but still enthralling. I liked the idea of the Trojan War being re-enacted, and that the supposedly superior humans had assumed the roles of Greek gods. I'm sure he probably nicked the idea from Star Trek I haven't read Olympus yet, but I have become quite a fan of Dan Simmons and will no doubt read it eventually. I like the way he crosses genres, it's difficult to pin him down. I've read some of his other work and enjoyed them just as much, if not more, especially Hyperion. Quote
martin664 Posted September 20, 2011 Author Posted September 20, 2011 That makes me think that I still have to read this series! => bookstore!!! Quote
LittleW Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Are all of his books supernatural? I have some of him on my wishlist and I thought, they are historical fiction. Quote
