Introvert turning out going?

Is there a book about an adult man that is introverted and a loner. And as the book progresses he does too?

What about Markus Zusak 'I am the messenger'? The main character isn't a complete loner, he has three friends he meets with regularly but that's it and he's really quite shy and struggles to let his feelings out. It's a very good book, it's technically was written as young adult fiction but many people have said it easily fits into adult.
