Finally, I've found a place were my enigma can be solved...

Way back in time (30 years) I read a novel that occasionally have been haunting me.

The story is about this person that might be a native american.

After been released from mental hospital he make plans for his revenge

and captures his former, imaginary tormentors and psychologists from the hospital. Maybe 3 or 4 people.

He brings them all out into the deadly desert and then he abandon them there.

From then on, the story deals with their struggling to survive and defeat the kidnapper,

who's watching them from a distance and sometimes interfering in the process.

From what I remember they managed to escape from their enemy,

but I'm not up for spoilers so the ending is an open question.

I have no idea what this is but there's a name that keep coming to me... Taggart.

But I'm not sure, so let's not get stuck with that.

The cover was rather simple in a lightbrown,

sandy paper tone and the title was typed in a kind of shattered, broken glass style.

Something like the one I've attached.

Any idéas?

Sincerely thankful in advance.

Captain Sky

Is it 'Fear In A Handful Of Dust' By John Ives (aka Brian Garfield)?

It was turned into a film called 'Fleshburn'. The story sounds about right from your description.

Yes that's the one I've been looking for.

From the bottom of my heart - Thank You so very much.

Did I say this was a place where enigmas were solved?
