I just read in a magazine that the BBC has made an adaptation of Toast to be shown late December with Helena Bonham Carter playing the stepmother I really liked the book so I'm hoping they've done justice to it.

Anybody else read it ?

Oooh, that's interesting.

Yes, I've read it - it was my Bookclub's second book back in 2006. I really enjoyed it, but it received mixed reviews within the group. It brought back lots of memories! The hostess on the night we discussed it cooked toast and bought other items mentioned in the book!

I hated Slater's Eating for England with a passion though!

Yes it brought back lots of foodie memories for me too, not read Eating for England though I did have one of his cookery books for awhile but sent it to the charity shop when I realised I was not really cooking much out of it
