Hi, this is driving me mad so any help that anyone might give is much appreciated.

I'm trying to remember a book I read around 2003. The problem being that the only details I remember are that it was fiction (normal bloke meets fantasy fiction sort of thing), in a black cover with a circle cut out to reveal an inside cover, and a patchy synopsis as follows:

It is about a man who inherits (I think) a cottage in the back of beyond. It is in, or near a wood. When he starts living in the cottage he experiences strange goings on in the night though the only distinct event I can remember is that he is visited by a succubus. He visits the wood to discover a world of fairies etc., one of whom he falls in love with after they *you know* together, she becomes a human and...happily ever after.

It's a long shot I know but amazon, waterstones, google books and the british library are all useless without the title/author/at least some further detail so if anyone has read this book (you'll remember the naked fairy I'm sure) I would be eternally grateful if you could tell me what it was called!

That's just what I was going to suggest. The copy I had was like the one you described and it certainly sounds like the storyline you mentioned.

THAT'S THE ONE!!!

Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you (copy, paste etc.) You are both amazing, if the internet wasn't such a barrier to physical presence I'd kiss you. You have no idea how long that's been bugging me!

If you like that one, you might also enjoy The Magic Cottage by the same author...
