myke Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 I read a small review in one of the broadsheets in November 2009 (4th of November to be exact as it was the day Lyon beat Liverpool in the champions league). It was about a youngish single dad who was raising his daughter, if memory serves me correct it was set in Paris and I'm sure it had some elements of being biographical. As I say this is a huge long shot but if anybody knows what this book is called I would be eternally grateful! Quote
Chrissy Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 This is ringing a little bell in my head, but it's not quite within reach.....I will have ponder this one a while Myke. Quote
Chrissy Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 I've not found anything that matches entirely, but I did come across this article that carries a few of the components you mention. Quote
myke Posted September 19, 2010 Author Posted September 19, 2010 Oh my god! Thank you so much that is exactly what I read!! Obviously I realise that it wasn't a book after all, how did you find it? I'm amazed to be honest as I spent a good 3/4 hours looking for this the other day! Thank you so much, I enjoyed his writing in the article and have bought his book so I will let you know what it's like if you are interested. I do have to say that the article would make a lovely book though, the character of his daughter that he paints is fantastic. Quote
Michelle Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 Simon van Booy is a beautiful writer. We have a thread about one of his books here - http://www.bookclubforum.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/4215-love-begins-in-winter-by-simon-van-booy/page__p__111635__hl__booy__fromsearch__1#entry111635 Quote
