I finished it last night, er this morning. :011::011:

All in all I liked it. I found it did drag a bit about three quarters through, and I wish more information had been given on certain character points.

I actually wonder if she is going to make the detective, Simon Waterhouse part of a series. There was plenty of room left for that as he was a fully developed, but mysterious character.

There is an interesting twist that you might not see coming. :018:

Can't wait till some others finish. :018:

I just started this last night, and I liked the way the first chapter was written. The second one, however, I has some trouble 'adjusting' to. I'll see how it goes...

I had a job with The back and forth between time frames and characters at first, but keep going Michelle, it does get easier to follow ...

Also found at first I was rushing through to get back to Alice ;)

Took me quite awhile to read, but only because so much going on with the Christmas rush etc.

Won't say anymore just yet... other than I really enjoyed it.

I believe I liked it better in retrospect than during actually. I was so irritated with the mother...gosh, I'm forgetting her name already.

But, oh I won't say more till more people finish it. Suffice it to say, I was surprised at the ending, and not altogether pleasantly.

The Mother's name 'Vivienne' ;)

Who else is reading it ?

The ending also surprised me, never saw that coming ...

Whoops, wrong mother, I meant Alice the mother of the baby. I pulled the book from the other pile finally. ;)

Michelle said she was starting, but was waylaid by other bookish obligations. So a bit later I expect.

I'm not usually too surprised at an ending, but this one managed that. I have to say that about three-quarters through, I was stalled, and really didn't feel like reading it anymore, but a turn around came, and I'm glad I plugged through.

Take no notice of silly me, why I thought you meant Vivienne I don't know, she was Mother in Law and Grandmother  yes Alice

I read a review of this in the Bookseller before it was published and it looked really good. A couple of months after that I got hold of the library copy. I still have it sat waiting to be read.

As you say, though, Michelle - it seems to have had a sudden surge in popularity recently and I have just noticed that someone has requested it. That means I need to return it by its duedate of the 8th Jan - so I better get a move on!!!!
