Debs
Has anyone else read his books? I've read all of them now, except for Whirlwind, which is what I'm currently reading. I'd be interested to know if I'm the only one...he doesn't seem terribly popular in my area, the only place I can readily get his books are used bookstores. southernlady
I knew his name looked familiar...yes, I read two of his books long ago. Tai-Pan and Shogun. I also watched the mini-series, Shogun. I'm not surprised that you can only find his stuff in used book stores now. He died of a stroke following cancer in Switzerland in 1994. wrathofkublakhan
King Rat is one of his books that shook me to the core. I found myself dreaming of dynamics and trying to apply the same power logic of a concentration camp to a small college faculty. So well written, the conditions are so matter-of-fact that by the time the camp is liberated you are shocked at how you accepted it. Amazing. pontalba
It's been ages, but yes, I've read Noble House and Shogun at least, maybe a few more I can't remember. I enjoyed them quite a lot.

James Clavell was one of my favorite authors at the time that I was reading his books. I miss his writing very much. Whirlwind was one of my least favorite though of his books. muggle not
Shoulda known you'd like them muggle. I really did enjoy his writing. I went to look in my bookcase today for his books and realized that I had given all of them to the library. For those of you that have not read his books, I recommend him highly. Roger53
I've read Shogun, Taipan and Noble House. Very good books. They were very popular in the 70's I think, but I suppose he has been a little forgotten now. I think there was a series about Noble House?
