Hi, I'm going on a holiday in a few weeks and need some books for it. At the moment I'm reading a lot of Orwell and Wilde and am looking for something similar. Please Help.

What sort of Orwell do you like? If you've enjoyed things like Coming up for Air (fiction) and Down and Out in Paris and London (non-fiction) then you might like Love on the Dole by Walter Greenwood - that has a similar feel to it. Also, Anna of the Five Towns by Arnold Bennett. :) Both of these are fictional.

Down and Out in Paris and London is my favourite Orwell book, followed by Homage to Catalonia. I'd highly recommend both. I'd suggest Steinbeck - Grapes of Wrath, if only because I flip between him and Orwell as my favourite author.
