Anthony1900
I've just finished reading this book and I must say it's the best novel I've read. Prior to this, my favourite author was Kafka. Has anyone else read Nausea? Let me know what you think.
sirinrob
As an exposition of Sarte's existentialist views its good, beyond that I found it to be average. At least it wasn't as depressing as The Age of Reason
Anthony1900
I'm reading Age Of Reason at the moment and enjoying it. Does depressing equate to a bad book?
Anthony1900
This is a great read, very dynamic and surreal. It draws you in in a plausible way and then you find yourself in a dreamlike world. I thought it one of his best stories.
chrysalis_stage
I have read this and while I enjoyed it I personally didn't see anything amazing about it, maybe I need to re-read it and look closer....oft to find my copy
Anthony1900
This very short story is one of my favourites. I've read it several times. It's about the struggling artist and how trying to be creative can adversly affect ones health and well being. Mann offers hope by suggesting that the artist should find a balance between creativity and living and not locking oneself away, spending endless late nights alone with a pouch of tobacco. sirinrob
No, but I did find The Age of Reason to be overblown, but then that's more about personal taste. The plot is good.
