I'm finding this book reaaaally good, but at the first time it was really hard because I couldn't understand the story (I'm French, too much old English words I guess), but now that I've understood the beginning, everything is more simple.

I'm English but I found the Yorkshire dialect really difficult ... I had to read it several times to really understand it .. infact, I had to hear it being read .. and then I went back and started again. It's a fantastic book, so atmospheric.

I think that when Joseph is talking, I nearly don't read what he's saying because I already have problems to understand the rest, so he's nice but I don't know what he's talking about (things from the Bible sometimes, I think).

And yes it's a special book, especially because

the author is able to kill the main character, Catherine, and the book is stille interesting after her (rather foolish) death.

Yes Joseph was a trial for me too ... but you're right he's mostly quoting the bible and flinging down curses on everybody.

The amazing thing about the book is that

it doesn't end with Cathy's death as so many of the films/TV adaptations do .. there's still a lot more to come and as you say it's still really interesting .. that was a revelation to me when I read it.

The movies end with the death of Catherine? That's so strange, only the half of the book... I think that the end of the book is amazing, even though I still havent read it. xD

I'm really enjoying The Other Queen by Philippa Gregory.

Does someone think that it's not her best? I've read on some websites that it's definetely not her most breathtaking book. Which is her best, then?

I've added loooots of books, because I couldn't add them last summer.

I really enjoyed Middlesex, as many of you on this forum, and bought (too many) books I will read with delight. :smile2:
