marouskin Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Hello everyone, I am looking for a book I used to secretly read when I was younger, as it had lots of sex scenes in it...! It was sort of an Irish saga, the story of an Irish guy and his family...this guy moved to New York and used to hang out with a prostitute called Billie and got married to a rich girl called Deirdre who was kidnapped while pregnant and died (it was a really moving scene). The guy raised his kids (one of them called Rory and another called Maeve) and became really rich and powerful and the story followed him till the day he died. In the end, he was left with his granddaughter who was really smart and would take over his business, unlike Maeve (her mum) who wasn't very bright or pretty. I also remember that this guy was born out of wedlock and in the first chapters the book followed the story of his mother (Mary I think her name was) who had a really difficult life but in the end got married to a rich guy called Thaddeus Martin, although she never got over her first love. Does all that ring a bell at all? I've tried to find this book over the years but I could never remember the title (plus I read it in translation as I'm not English so the title could be slightly different even if I remembered it)...
