Kylie Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 That's a great reading list Nicola! I've read and loved the first three on your list, and I have all of the rest on my TBR pile. I'll look forward to reading your thoughts on all of them. Quote
Nicola Booth Posted March 11, 2010 Author Posted March 11, 2010 Just about to start Pride and Prejudice. Wish me luck! Quote
Nicola Booth Posted March 15, 2010 Author Posted March 15, 2010 Sorry Guys! Pride and Prejudice is just not going to happen. This is the third time I have tried to read it and I am just not enjoying it. Love the idea but find it hard to read. I really enjoyed the BBC Version with Colin Firth and even liked the film version with Kiera Knightly. I am probably going to get lynched here but I find Jane Austen Books are like Terry Pratchett books, ideas are great but most books are unreadable. The only Jane Austen book I have read in full is Northanger Abbey and I loved it but think this was mostly due to the gothic feel of the novel. Quote
Nicola Booth Posted June 29, 2010 Author Posted June 29, 2010 Oops it is nearly July and I have not done very well in my classics list! Must try harder! My dad actually has my Sherlock Holmes books at minute and seems to be enjoying them. What puts me off is the fact that they are short stories! Quote
Kylie Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 I'm sorry you didn't enjoy Pride and Prejudice Nicola. I hope you have better luck with Sherlock Holmes. Try not to let the short story aspect put you off. They're really brilliant stories. Quote
