I am a mother of four (with two under the age of five) and I was just wondering if anyone could give me some ideas of books to buy to keep them entertained over half-term? Would love to get a discussion going with people's suggestions as I think getting your children to read is so important!

I'd be interested in recommendations here too as, although Xan is only 16 months at the moment (and chooses stories for us to read "with" him rather than to him - he chunters along with us, it's so sweet!), it won't be long before he'll begin to recognise words and I'd love to give him a good start!

Thanks Vladd, I love the Gruffalo and hadn't even thought of that one.

Bless, Xan sounds adorable Kell!

But I also think old classics like Beatrix Potter, and the Funnybones stories are great! :D

I love the ladybird books, they can't be topped! But also looking for books that will capture their attention. I know of some books that combine fiction, non-fiction, games and activities but was wondering if anyone knew of any others? :D Something to keep them occupied, because knowing half-term it's bound to be raining!
